Newer Mustang owners

I'm posting this here cause I can't think of a better place that mustang owners might look(I see a lot of them on here). Anyway my question is what kind of stock exhaust is on the new mach 1, cobra, even gts. I like the sound of it, as much as I dislike mustangs ford has done a good job on the exhaust on those cars it sounds good.

The firing order contributes that sound, not just the exhaust. The 05 mustang had a lot of time/money spent on finding jut the right sound. No other car sounds like it.....I love that sound.

The new Mach 1's sound freakin' awesome! Not quite loud enough for me but still. My neighbor has one and it's top shelf.

Little off topic but how are the 4.6 cars (GT's/Mach 1's/Etc) at a roll compared to LT1 cars? I had a GT Vert tonight from a ~65mph roll and absolutely walked him. My car is bone stock and has 145k. I let off at like 85 because it just wasn't even fun anymore. Maybe he just wasn't on it?

The 99+ GT's can be about as fast as an LT1 if they are hardtops and 5 speeds
You get an F

All GTs are slower, let's just say that for time's sake

The DOHC Mach1/Cobras are faster than both LS/LT1s

you get a d-.all 4th gen gts are slower than 4th gen z28s,but the ls1 ss will smoke a mach one and a pre-03 cobra.Remember there have been stock ls1s that have broke into the 12s with drag radials.

the ss has nothing over the z28. The ls1 4th gens are equal to the mach1. The lt1 wont touch it.

Mach1's are typically doing mid to high 13s in the low 100s. I'd say that, at best, is on par with LS1's.

Please dont respond unles you know what your talking about, cuz you obviously dont.

"Remember there have been stock ls1s that have broke into the 12s with drag radials."

Drag radials will make a mach1 a 12 sec. car.

"The Mach 1 is almost as fast as an LT1"

Once again please dont respod unless you know what your talking about.

So what's the bottom line... in the quarter mile, is his car faster than yours or not?

Whether the Mach 1 is faster boils down to exactly which car you're talking about. At best, it's as quick as an LS1, at worst, MUCH slower (102 trap speed for the auto?)

Motortrend:
'03 Mach 1 Auto 13.88 @ 101.91
'03 Mach 1 Manaul 13.2 @ 106.7

MSN Autos:
'03 Mach 1 Manual 14.2 @ 105.5

Autofacts.ca (http://www.autofacts.ca/classics/fast.htm)
'03 Mach 1 Manual 13.13 @ 105.1

The exhaust on the 03/04 cobra is garbage. It is so restrictive, all you hear is a wooooosh out of it. It has 4 cats and the pipes are 2 1/4' down to 1 15/16" or something at the cats. The whine of the intake easily drowns out any noise from the exhaust. The exhaust on the other mustangs sounds good though, even if they are a little weak.

Don't get the cobra exhaust!!!

Cobra exhaust has always been faulty, thats why most people replace them the day after they buy the car so they can instantly get their power from the restrictive exhaust. A buddy of mine bought an '01 cobra and it sounded like dog *** until he went with a borla system, and he saw a 23RWHP gain from it, not to mention a WAY better sound, and he didn't even go with a straight-through design exhaust.

I agree, but it is $1500 for x-pipe and a cat back. Seems like a lot for just a bunch of pipes.

I have read there is up to 40hp to be had by junking the stock exhaust on the 03/04 cobra

Yeah, but usually on the 03/04 Cobra people spend $1100 for an exhaust, $400 for a programmer, $150 for a pulley, and $250 for a CAI and hit around 500 to the wheels. That's pretty insane.

Oh well, sign me up for the '07-'08 Z28 with a turbocharged LS3.
