New wrx sti

How fast are these things?
I got into it with one getting onto the highway tonight....was on the damn on ramp goin 90...I almost went off the road...those things must handle real good.

Anyway he jumped on it and then I did. I realed him in but not that fast..the thing could move. I passed him by the time I was goin about 120....we started at about 85-90. By 140 I let off and had him by about 2 cars.

I was impressed.

How fast are these cars supposed to be?....it was probably stock being it was so new.

yeah those little things are pretty quick. 300hp in such a small frame is nothing to underestimate, and they won't let you forget it. he would have killed you from a dig, but they run out of power by the time you were racing him.

ULTRA, with your mods, I dont believe he was stock. If you were stock that is what I would expect to happen.

oh yeah didn't look at your mods, i hope you arn't that bad a driver. Maybe that would happen with an LT1 car with your mods, but in your case i think he had a boost controller at the least.

Re: New wrx sti

he was absolutely modded unless he was already going much much faster than you when you went to run him down. He still hung with you up top somewhat so he had to have been modded.

Re: New wrx sti

they're tricky cars...........i have a buddy with one....its fast, but they arent light as someone previously stated

we weighed his in at 3400 lbs........they are pretty fast.......but im sure the guy had at least a downpipe, catback (no cats) and a boost controller, but still even if he had a boost controller he couldnt go over 15.5 lbs on the stock turbo (which doesnt give him that much more power.........13lbs is stock, the only reason upped boost would help him is because it would allow him to get into boost quicker than a stock boosted sti...........thus makin him a tad bit faster with only about 10 hp more)..........

So, with your mods thats odd that he stayed right there (he could have had a u-tech and a few more things, but good kill............the cars are quick.

I am awaiting the race between me and my friends..........should be good (i am waiting on my wheels and tires to get here).

anyways, good kill

Re: New wrx sti

Well I was probably about 50 feet behind when he took off. I couldnt stay with him too well in the twisties. I also came out of the corner in 4th and not 3rd. At 80-90 4th is a tad bit too high of gear ( my 3:73's and eaton are awaiting install in my room). SO I guess this could explain some of it.
OR...the car was modded.

OR...my car is a dog...but I have beaten quite a few fast cars with it, so I highly doubt that is the case.

Re: New wrx sti

yeah, in the twisties they are quick............they are very well balanced for stuff like that........especially with theire ability to control how much power gets put to the front and rear tires with the turn of a dial.

but actually with a good driver they can do 12.8 BONE stock in quarter

Re: New wrx sti

They run about 13.3-13.4 with a good driver, but they only trap around 101-103 mph. Most of their ET is from the launch(1.7 60'). If he hung with you from a roll, then there is no freakin way that it was stock.

...and yes, they are impressive handlers and have awesome brakes. Not my kind of car though.

Been there done that. Modded my friends WRX, so I know a few things about the car. I've also had discussions with STi owners about 1/4 mile times. Say what you want about magazine times, but you won't find any quicker than what I posted. If you do, I'd like to see it. STi 1/4 mile times get WAY over inflated by those who don't know better, on many occasions.

Re: New wrx sti

if i had to choose between a 02 SS and a 04 STI then i would take the sti.............a better all around car (handling, braking, power)

Yeah, and you need a reality check. You are one of those who spread false data.
