Good runs! If you're having trouble getting a good 60 foot time with a stock stall and street radials I'll make a few suggestions that I and my friends have used successfully.......
Don't do a burnout. Not even a little squeaker. Drive around the water box and stright up to the line. No dry hops- NOTHING. Straight to the line. Street radials only get greasy when you heat them up- they don't hook much better- often worse.
Don't torque it up against the converter. Leave from a dead idle and let the converter flash up to stall speed. Keep throttle light out of the hole the first few feet. If you hear anything more than tiny squeak- you blew it.
This technique works many times and on many cars. Most recently I helped a frend in a 2001 Mustang GT drop 3/4 of a tenth off his 60 foot the very first time he tried this. And he still "greased up" the tires by doing a burnout. He only took half my advice.

Stalled it up on m 2800 stall, concentrating on the footwork I forgot to see what RPM I had it at, and pulled a 1.95 60'! I've tried going with no burnout and that DID NOT WORK FOR CRAP! Tried just a few dry hops and that didn't help at all either, and this was before the shift kit and stall. Maybe its the track surface, power output, too much throttle out of the hole, but I'll never race without a burnout again!

You stalled up to 2800 on your stock stall converter? Not likely. We're talking showroom-stock kinda cars here- street tires and a stock stall converter- not a midified one like yours that uses a higher stall converter.
I've jsut found this often works when other stuff doesn't. I doubt your technique would work for everyone else's car either.

Before my tranny finally went and it was no shift kit and no stall (not a modified car either....mild bolt ons at best) I tried that crap and it didn't work then either....could be the track prep too, but our track prep bites. You are correct though, not everyone's car works the same. I just meant that he should try this as an option too since the other way has never ever ever worked for mine.

Damon, is a long time and well respected member of this board and that coment was uncalled for. I have spen't many hours at the track with him as many other long time members of this board have. Everyone of them has gained E/T from listening to his advice. I completely agree with the method he describes. I recomend trying this method. If it doesn't work then try something else. Not like you've got anything to lose.
Teal 96TA,
If you need some help with the launch on that 2800 coverter I'd be glad to help. I have pulled low 1.6 60's with no suspension mods on Nittos consistently.
No wonder it didn't work, reved to 2800 rpms on a stock stall. You had to be spinning while you were staged. I can't even stall my 2800 RPM converter to 2800 RPMs.

Myricekiller, If you're spinning like crazy with the stock converter, then a stall will only make it worse. You just need to work on your technique. It sounds like you're just stabbing it out of the hole. Many people have cut 1.8 60's on the stock converter and street tires, I've cut 1.9s myself. Practice, practice, practice.

Practice and practice again. Don't keep trying different techniques all the time, stick with one proven method (hint hint>>Damon<<) and go from there. Also, spend some money on decent tires like ET Streets or drag radials.
