14.20@96 is horrible. Most likely missed a gear or something. I bet we'll be seeing most of them run 13.5ish at 103MPH

I watched one run at the track last night and it went 14.10 but they wouldn't show mph for some reason.

Supposedly they will have 290-295 rwhp bone stock. I seriously doubt that. The best stock n/a 4 valve 4.6s only made 280 rwhp stock and I know the 4 valve heads flow better than the 3 valve heads. They also weigh 100-200 lbs. more than the current GT. They will probably run mid 13s with a good driver stock. That was a horrible showing for a new GT.

Hopefully Evan Smith will get to drive one. He is, IMO, simply the very best strip driver associated with a magazine.

No surprise here, a GT hasnt come close to an impressive stock time since the last fox body

Its a completely redesigned engine, just because the Cobras have one more valve doesnt mean that it will flow better then the new GT...Glad you "know" that the 4 valve heads flow better, got any proof of that?

"Why is Ford moving to Three-Valve cylinder heads? Well, the Three-Valves offer performance that approaches the top-of-the-line Four-Valve heads, while benefiting from being less complicated to manufacture.

Contrary to what people fondly remember of "the good ol' days" of 5.0 Mustangs, they weren't any faster than mid 14s either. They may have been only a few mods away but they didn't do it bone stock. Plenty of conbinations were lucky to see 15.0s.

I do agree with you about the times...but back in the late 80s/early 90s, mid 14s was pretty damn impressive (compared to most other cars).

Today, we've got factory Corvettes that can run low 12s-high 11s, Vipers going 11s, F-bodies going low 13s, Cobras going easy 12s, family sedans going 14s, pickup trucks going 12s-13s...

So a high 13 sec. car, while still fairly quick (and quicker than in the past), isn't that impressive by today's standards.
