14.4>14.5(which he ran)

Stock v6 camaro

Jsut teasing... it was probably a modded v6 or a very crappy ls1 driver, I have seen an ls1 pull a 15.4, 14.8s and similar times to that...

but for him ot pull on him? Thats sounds kinda fishy...

Jesus guys...this kid is obviously a noobie to racing and doesnt know alot about domestic cars so he doesnt understand what he is really saying...

For the guy that thought dropping an OEM motor into your street car makes it illegal WTF dude?

Other than that it sounds like the kid has a gsr motor with bolt-ons and is a so-so driver.

So B18C1 + EG hatch + rookie = low 14's + bolt-ons = High 13's on street tires traps around 100 maybe so I doubt he would be pulling any LS1's from a roll

But with proper tuning a GSR EG could run high 12's on a slightly warmed over B18C1 (cams, header, traction)

But most of these kids cant drive or tune their cars on the dyno so....they are slow.....like stock LT1 slow

If you get an engine swap that isn't for your car and your are telling the insurance that you still have the other engine that is illegal. That is what I meant.

Law says as long as you keep the emissions equipment from the engine setup your good to go.

Insurance is insurance....do they charge you more if you put wheels on? Different seats?

At best its a gray area and in no way would it be "illegal" just FYI Now I wouldnt expect them to replace it should it be lost, stolen or damaged as it was not original equipment unless you ask for a specific policy which covers aftermarket equipment.

Most guys who sink 10+ thousand dollars into their cars would be wise to pick up some extra insurance

If such was the case I have had my motor for 2 years and I'd be "breaking the law" because I didnt tell my insurance company about the change in motor...

Swapping engines is NOT illegal as long as the emissions equipment from the new engine is the correct for the year engine AND at least the same age as the chassis.

ex: Take an LS1 and transplant it into an Astro Van.
As long as the LS1 was the same age or newer than the Van, the owner can use the Van's emissions systems (if he can adapt them) or use the correct emissions system from the donor vehicle. If the Van was newer than the engine, the owner would have to upgrade the engines' emissions system to the Van's year LS1.

Insurance companies are only interested if you change the # of cylinders - Unless it is Geico or Metropolitan. These two have seemed to be **** about ANY modifications from stock. I have known people getting dropped after having declared minor modifications!

funny, but for a 14.5 car i have walked all over 5.0's 4.6's, and put buses on v6 camaro's and mustangs....

i raced a z28 94 last summer. and put a car on him. that was even running at -8 degrees timing ( car boged and can't idle and a bad timing belt....)

ojnly car i lost to was a 11.4 second grand prix gtp. my buddies trans am ws6 had a best of 13.7 thats even modded. so lets crack on me for buying a new engine when everything i spent for my car is less 7 g's what he payed for.... and im still faster.... hm. and why dont you think that maybe its the fun in modding. making something faster that it was..so i dont really want to hear well, mod a old 5.0, then talk about money spent... well, yeah. i could do the same thing. but wants the point in saying yeah, I HAVE a v8, I put an intake on it so now i think i own the world. whats more impressive, you guys putting headers on a car that already does 13's. or someone that worked for 13's? so what if YOU may beable to beat me. but i didnt buy my car when it can 105mph in the traps. i didnt have a v8. thats the way i choose it. cuase i like to see out all my windows, i like cheap insurance, and i drive 26,000 miles a yr. so buy what i think is right...

reading your posts make me laugh my *** off... you cant stand when for once, your over sized cars actually get beaten.... and for gods sake... sorry to burst your bubble's in trying to make yourselfs in all your glory. but i didnt say i smoke the ls1, so why not go back to school and learn how to read and post reply'c accordingly.

and another thing.... how is this a sorry kill story, when i didnt tell it in the first damn place? how is that possible....it was a post from an aim conversation.... rediculous....

this is another reason why i didnt buy a v8. becasue i didnt want to get sucked in like you guys did and think that the only think in this world is v8's and only way to go fast is v8's. I have driven and riden in both. I OWN a 4 banger. so i do what i can with what i got. I really dont care if you guys beleave me or not. thtas not the point. the point is to have yourselfs open up and realize that theres more to this world than the letters and number z28 and trans am....

i much rather be the underdog struggling to beat the top dog than to join the big dogs.... just not my style. i like challenges, and adding i/h/e to v8's doesnt do it...

We know 4 / 6 cils can be fast, its just harder, and they get limited as the power goes up and the track times go down.
Ever seen a street driven 8sec civic? No Well atleast I havent
Ive seen quite a few 8sec V8 cars that run on the street.

Guys, dont bother replying to this, hes not going to listen, hes right and we are all wrong and thats the way it is

Me and sevral other people have tried talking to him about this, it doesnt work.

He likes TRYING to go fast with his civic, we like going that fast stock THEN going faster. I dont see the logic either, O well.

Just because we own V8s doesn't mean we don't respect "fast" 4 bangers. We were not "sucked in."

Here's a challenge for you, go back to grammar school and learn to type and spell! No more playing around with your crappy little 4 banger until you learn to use the English language, son.
