Re: Mustang Owners inside please...

I had that same problem when I bought my '98. Had a salesperson trying to walk me over to the cavaliers, "are you sure you can handle all that performance?" "What about your insurance?" "Do you know how much this car costs??!" Blah Blah Blah. I just nodded and said "geez, you're right. I'll really have to think about that." Left, came back the next day, found a guy who just wanted to sell cars. Wrote the check, and waved to the d*ckhead salesguy from the day before as I drove my car off the lot. LOL Hell, the GOOD salesman almost had me putting a down payment on a 'vette.

No offense, but don't blame Ford or SVT...blame an @sshole salesman and a shady dealer.
I would have demanded to speak to the sales manager and asked to see, on paper, how they invented that $31.5k number that was advertised on the window.
Sounds like he tried to screw you, thinking you wouldn't know any better. Many dealers do this...remember the $3k+ "market value adjustments" on the GTO's earlier this year. A local dealer wouldn't let me drive one unless I went "inside to discuss some numbers".

Look at Cosby...he paid $28.9k for a brand new '04. IMO, that's better than the $28.6k I paid for an '03 in April.
The deals are out there, just at a different dealer.

Nope, $29.8k. Invoice (33,300) minus rebates ($3000 + $500 military).

lol It doesn't necessarily come down to how much you make, it's what kind of a budget you can live with. Smart finances can go a looooong way. To some people it's worth living paycheck to paycheck to have a shiny new play-toy in the garage.

Am i the only one that is curious about what job you have to pay off all of these cars. I'm 20 too and i'm pretty happy that i pay for my car and have a 4x4 truck too.
My 95Z, i took out a loan (very first one), had my dad co-sign to get accepted, and had the money in the bank to pay it off (i had saved for a long time) kept the loan out for about 7-8 months, and banked money the whole time, adding on to what i already had. Paid off the 95z, kept it for about another 6-7 months, sold it for 8K. Took that money, and the other money i had saved, and bought the 99 Z cash. Had that car for 4 months, and did a little drunk offroading in it (by mistake), ****ed up the passenger side (not cosmetic, but the trie was leaning in at the top, bad), traded it for the 98 TA. Gave them my 99 Z, and 4500 (which i took out a loan for), and had that. Had the TA for about 6 months, paid the loan off, traded it for the SS. Gave the TA, and 7K for the SS, cash (well certified check from my bank) and now thats my car. All you have to do is, like i did, start out with a good chunk of money, buy something you know you can pay right off with the money you have, and save while you are making payments on it (and in the meantime, you are building your credit up like no other, taking out loans, and paying them off), and pay them off. IDK, i am very smart with my money (not trying to toot my own horn), i try to have a nice car, and still have adequate funds to do whatever i want. I am planning on going to school in the spring (which i will have to pay for too). By the way, i work at a Caterpillar dealership, go location to location, look at damaged, or "down" equipment, recommend repairs to the customer, and a price, and try to sell them the stuff (parts, and service).

I know the deals are out there, that dealer just pissed me off royally. Cosby got a very good deal on his. He got his for invoice, they were trying to start me at MSRP, and not give me the 3K rebate. Oh well, havent drove the GTO yet, IDK what i am going to do. Thanks for all the info, and help guys.

Re: Mustang Owners inside please...

black00ss, even though the gto has a nicer set of seats, the weight of that car is killing the performance on that engine. in your case, it would be like steping down in power, even though it has an ls1. seriously, you're a driving a 00 SS, is not like you're coming from a 2000 mustang gt. you would feel the difference in power. to make it go fast, you would need more mods. (like if you weren't going to put some ot them in anyways )
on the other side, the cobra has more power (stock) and you know the cost of a simple pulley and exhaust and the power gains you would have on this car..., you could get a mach 1 and save around $10,000 compared to what you're going to pay for the cobra.of course, you won't have the power of a terminator, but the mach is lighter than the gto, and well, is been proven faster than the gto on any track in usa
anyways, i would tell you to try out everyone of them, after all, you would be the one driving your car everyday.
my honest opinion: i would get the cobra, otherwise i'll get the mach (of course i'm driving a mach 1 )

i love my slp's, they're loud, but not annoying like when you have them installed on a camaro, my brother had them on his car (2002 SS Camaro), and he was happy the day he got the slp, and even happier the day he got rid of them, the drone was so bad, he told me he got bolts coming loose every week
anyways, they're loud, but only when you get at it, no drone at all, and you can keep a conversation with your girlrfiend if you wanted, you don't know you have an slp catabak below 2500rpm , but give her gas and people would know why they're called loudmouth

here is mach 1 with magnaflow catted x pipe and slp

black00ss, i would give you more food for thought... told you about a cobra and some cheap mods, but if you get a little bit fancy, take a look at what you could get , and the best of everything, no worries about engine internals
