Re: Mustang Owners inside please...

hey Redcamaro, how do you like the SLP exhaust on the mustang? Sound decent? know of a place I can hear some 'stangs with the SLP exhaust? Got some buddies looking for something "different." EVERY mustang has flowmasters, they're going for something a little more uniquie.

Re: Mustang Owners inside please...

Going to go test drive 2 cars tomorrow. And the 2 candidates are: 1st a 2004 Pontiac GTO, second a 2004 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra. Before youguys start telling me to get the mustang, and the GTO is a waste of money, here is why. There are 2 04 SVT's at a ford dealership very close to me ( One screaming Yellow coupe, and one Lazer red coupe). The sticker price on both of them are 36K and change. There are flyers hanging from the rear view mirror on both of them that say "reduced, 31K (probably because the 05's are on the way), i believe this is a special deal the dealership has going on at the time (one dollar above dealer invoice or something like that), and i think i will get rebates on top of that 31K price tag. I looked at those today, but the dealership was not open. While driving down the same street, i pulled ino the pontiac dealership, to check out the new GTO's. They were open. After bsing with salesman, he flat out told me "we can't sell these last 04's, people know the 05 will have hood scoops, dual outlet exhaust on both sides of the car, chrome wheels, and the new 400 HP LS2 engine, and do not want to buy a 04, when the 05's will be here in weeks". I asked him what kind of a deal he could cut me on the 04, he said "sticker is 33K, ei will knock it down to 29K, before we even start talking about the rebates that are out there on it (another 2K)". I was not able to test drive the goat, but i got to sit in it, and man is it nice inside, the interior is decked out, so comfortable. Anyways, i came home, and called about car insurance on both cars, this is the kicker. A 04 Cobra, same coverages that are on my camaro, will raise my insurance 14 dollars a month. An 04 GTO, same coverages as my camaro, will lower my insurance by 100 dollars a month!!! So here is what this depends on, if i can go to the ford dealership, talk turkey, and walk off the lot with the mustang for less then 400 dollars a month, buying it outright, i will own an 04 Cobra Lazer red coupe tomorrow. If not, and pontiac can cut me one hell of a deal on that Goat, and i absolutely love the way it drives down the road, i will own either a Silver, or black GTO coupe tomorrow. Will keep ya posted, i just hope after i drive the 04 cobra, i can hide my boner long enough to not have them stick it in my *** and screw me on a deal, lol.

Don't let the dealership get the best of you.

They can smell anticipation.

Adding the GTO actually lowers your insurance by $100/month? How the h*ll does that happen? I've had three or more vehicles for the last 7 years, and I only saw a drop when I rolled my homeowners in with the same insurance company. Usually when I added a car, depending on the vehicle in question, my rates went up in varying degrees. When I lived in Maryland, it was negligible...in Jersey I get f*cked.
It might come down to a money decision. The GTO is a nice car, and if you can get it for $3-4k less than an '04 Cobra (which you should be able to get for ~$28-29k), it would be a deal for $25-26k. Add to that the delta on the insurance of $114/month, and it's hard to discount the savings.
Don't be fooled, the Cobra will still be significantly quicker faster/quicker than the GTO.

Re: Mustang Owners inside please...

Decrease of $100 per month? Hell I don't pay anywhere near that TOTAL per month for my 04 Cobra. What are you paying per month now for your SS? Yikes.

FYI....I bought my 04 for invoice minus $3500 in rebates ($3000 rebates on Cobra and $500 active duty military rebate). Ted Britt Ford in Fairfax, VA.

Good luck - and choose whatever fits YOU best. To hell with what anybody else thinks. It will be YOUR car and it is YOUR money.

Enjoy your new ride....be it GTO or Cobra.

He's talking about an '04 GTO, not an '05...which aren't even in production or on dealer lots.
I'm not sure what you're talking about.

I thought you wanted a Stang for the exhaust sound? A GTO will sound just like your car now.

Yeah, i thought you were all about the exhaust. I have to agree that mustang exhaust sounds pretty good. Especially a Mach1 screaming over 6,000rpms.

That thing about the boner in your *** was hilarious!

It will lower my insurance by one hundred dollars a month if i have the same coverages on it as i have on the camaro, without the camaro on my policy with it. My car insurance is outrageous. In february of this year, i had 10 points on my license, 3 speeding tickets, 1 left of center turn (******* cop), and one very bad car accident (wrecked my step-dads 99 V-6 mustang on black ice, rolled 2 times side over side, and totalled it). Before i got my grand am, i was paying 454.00 a month for full coverage on the SS, with 1000 dollar deductibles. By adding the Grand Am (liability, uninsured motorist) and keeping the same coverage on the camaro, My insurance dropped to 296.00 a month. If i buy the GTO, take the SS off my insurance, and keep the Grand Am, i will be paying 198.00 a month. The trouble is this, i really want to keep the SS, but i am coming to the conclusion if i want i new car, i am going to have to get rid of it, just to be able to afford insurance. BTW, test drove the cobra today, will tell about it in the next post or 2.

Thank You for the kind words. My insurance is downright scary.

I do, i simply love the way the mustangs sound, i really would love to own an 04...my problem is i go through cars like toilet paper. I drive it, love it, get very bored with it very quickly, and want something else. In the last 3 years (I am only 20 years old) I had a 95Z M6, 99Z M6, 98 Trans Am A4, and now My 00 SS, M6 (all paid for by me, no gifts from parents, and i have paid my insurance ever since i have had my drivers license). I had test driven a few mustangs, liked the sound, liked the appearance, but was not really grabbed by the performance like i have been with the f-body (95Z-99Z was going from an LT1 to LS1...99Z to the 98 TA was simply because i loved the way the TA looked, and 98 TA to the 00 SS was because i have always wanted an SS, and i missed the six speed since the TA was an A4). IDK, please dont try and understand what goes through my head about cars, because i often sit down and think, geez, are you crazy??? I am never satisfied, always want something better, and do anything possible to make it happen. Now the mustang comes out that has the sound i love, and the performance (finally) i have always wanted in a stang from the factory, but i really like the GTO as well. Lots of people say its to plain, or it looks like a Grand Am, or what have you, but i like the appearance of it, the interior is amazing, the performance should be very similiar to the SS, and with chrome wheels, and aftermarket hood, i think it would look bad ***. Plus i havent seen (except for at the drag strip) a GTO around anywhere, i see 03-04 Stangs everywhere (machs, snakes, and gt's).

Re: Mustang Owners inside please...

Ok, now that we have that taken care of, went to the ford dealer today. Yada yada, blah blah, i want to test drive the cobra. Here is the conversation.
Him: Well you have to do a credit app. b4 you can test drive an SVT product
Me: Forget it then, i am not having my credit score checked, and possibly lowered because of it, to find out i dont like the car after i drive it, so i either drive it, or leave.
Him : Well, ok, lets take it for a spin.
(He gets into the drivers seat, i get in the passenger side, he pulls out on the road, and starts driving the car, like a grandpa who has never driven a standard shift car in his life)
Him : You know this has the supercharged engine, 390 HP (as he shifts into second and it feels as though we got *** ended because he couldnt shift at all)
Me : yes i know this
Him: Yeah these Cobra's have been a hot commodity, at our dealership anyways.
Me: Thats funny i have seen these 2 sitting on your lot for a few months now, i stopped to look, and became interested when i saw the, lowered 31500, tags on them.
Him: (puzzled) ...well how do you like it, rides smoth , very nice handling ca..
Me: I wouldn't know i am not driving.
Him : Oh, i'm sorry, lets pull over, we can switch, and you can give her a spin.
Me : (grinning) Ok, sounds good
( Pull into a gas station, switch seats, i am in the driver seat now...accidentally turn the traction control off )
Him : Ok, take her easy now, lets get on the high...
(At this point i am on the entrance ramp to the highway at full throttle, nail second, nail third, nail fourth, and let off of it)
Me: I like it, it does ride smooth, and handles nice, lets go do that credit ap now.
We get back to the dealership, he brings me some numbers out. The price on the paper he has says 36065, minus 3000 because i qualify for the X plan due to where i work. I said, what is this, the tag on the rear view mirror says reduced 31.5K, why are we starting at 36? He said, well that is with rebates. I said...yeah is there some reason i am not getting them on this deal? Well, he says, you will get a 3000 dollar rebate with your x-plan. I said no i am supposed to get the rebates, incentives, etc., then the x-plan on top of that. He says the 31.5K is a special price which includes a 3000 dollar rebate from ford, and a discount from the dealership as well, i do not get that special price with the x-plan. I was like WTF?? This dosent make sense, why do i not get the rebate, and special that any ******* off of the street can come in here and get, just because i also am qualified for the x-plan? I said the rebate, and X-plan are both going to be refunded to you by ford anyways, what is the deal?? He says well 3000 dollars off is a good deal on these cars, and i would be happy to get that, let alone anything. I sat there speechless, picked up all my stuff, and got up, trying to leave. He said where are you going. I said, You know, you may think i am an idiot, or going to screw myself because i am young, and really like the car, but i wont. So then he says, well thats your decision, but we are going to sell the car either way, thanks for stopping in. Can you believe this?!? I left that dealership, not only pissed, but insulted. Maybe he thinks i wouldnt have been approved for the loan or something. I dont know what the deal was, but i think that is what he thought, or maybe he just figured He was going to screw me out of the rebate, and put it into the dealership's slush fund, idk. Regardless of what i get, GTO, 04 Cobra, whatever, Downtown Ford is the first place i am going after i make my purchase to rub it in his face. I have taken out a 3K personal loan, paid it off, 2 four-year car loans, paid them both off in under a year. Have no oustanding credit card balances (all paid off), and have never made a late payment (in fact never even into the grace period on any bill i have had), and he thinks i wouldnt be approved, LMAO!! I know there is more to credit then that, but i know i was already approved before i looked at the car by the last bank i financed through. Well thats what happened today, tomorrow, i will go test drive the GTO. Later
