EDIT For Moderator: I think Antz is the one stirring the pot. I know it's the kill section which basically is the shat talking section, so let the Iron guys give him some medicine.

People literally use old iron blocks (and more frequently cranks) as anchors. They work extremely well, especially for things that you don't want to move very often (buoys, stationary rafts, etc). It's a nickname and doesn't mean anything with respect to the engines' performance or potential.

I'm well aware why they are called boat anchors, and we rednecks will even tie up dogs to them. Although I'm going to have to respectfully disagree that it isn't a derogatory nickname. Whether Antz was implying that or not is, I feel, debatable.

I didn't say it wasn't derogatory, I said it wasn't a comment about performance.

Cool it? Is that all it takes around here to earn a wrist slap from a mod?

We all know Antz likes to stir the pot a little from time to time. There's no harm in poking back once in a while.

For the record. If asking him whether or not he left his car stock or asking him if he knew how to make it fast is why I need to cool it, then no I will not cool it.

Hell yeah bro Iron is where it's at. My cast iron 305 in my 90 IROC has plenty of medicine. Just unzip my hood. Well, undo the zip ties and duck tape holding it on but hell yeah. Sure it has more rust than my wife has tattoo's but it's all good in the hood er trailer park. Who needs aluminum

who the hell cares? The good ol' 350ci iron blocks are just fine. Fun and cheap. Some LS1 guys just get full of themselves. Some almost get to the "ricer" point; thinking their stock LS1's can run with highly modded LT1's or SBC... like that vette owner that the OP put in his place

To the OP

Nice kill! It does sound like the vette owner didn't know much if anything about cars.
