my sig isnt updated let me fill you in...95 trans am A4, pacesetter longtubes and y pipe into a cutout and flowmaster catback, richmond 3:73s, pcmforless tune, K&N cold air kit and 1LE elbow, TB coolant bypass, front sway bar removed, and finally 15x3.5 prostars up front and 15x10 in the rears with BFG DRs....ok now that thats out of the way my buddy says he wants to run me in his 98 z28 with a loudmoth and a lid, from a stop and froma roll, now im wondering is he gonna take me from a roll? hes an A4 also, im pretty sure i should take him from a stop but unsure of a roll

From a roll he should take you with no problem. From a stop, you should hook better.

i dont think he'll take you froma roll or a stop, well it depends on what MPH youll start at on the roll, you guys should be puttin out almost the same HP (the LS1 might be pushin a tad more) but it seems traction will most likely be on your side, from a stop theres no reason you should lose, you might even be able to win from a roll.please post results of this race.

I don't know about 40hp...longtubes with a cutout should bring him almost to his level...with the gears and DRs he should take him from a stop.

If it is from a low enough roll I think you can take him. And like everyone else says a stop should be no problem.

You will smoke him from a stop, from a roll it will be close.

Since your friend has a lid and loudmouth he's probably putting down 300-310 RWHP. I'd say you were in the 280 rwhp range. That gives him a advantage in RWHP. However you have the gears and traction that he does not. From a roll he has you. From a dig I think you got him if you get a good hook. If he has 3.23 gears it might be a bit closer from the dig. Just don't go too far in the race from a dig because he should be able to reel you in in third gear.

Stay safe

I am a big LS1 freak around here , but I must respectively disagree with some of you guys.

If he has an A 4 then he probably has 2.73 gears. The LS1 is not a torque monster down low so the bolt on LT1 will take him from a stop.
As for the roll it will equal the same thing.
The bolt on LT1 is sporting 3.73 gears and this will allow the rpms to jump up faster and thus equal a win.

Now with only the few bolt ons on the LS1 it will be fairly close and if you were to add steeper gearing to the LS1 then the rolls would be reversed.

Let us know how it goes.

Funny thing is I heard there are more 3.23 gears out there then 2.73's. Not sure if that's true though but it's definately possible since most LS1's have t-tops and that is an option as well. Gears will definately help but not enough to counter the RWHP difference IMO. The roll race should belong to the LS1.

You got to remember both are A4 cars and both are internally stock engines. The LS1 heads flow so much better and IMO will be the difference maker in why the LS1 has the roll advantage even with the LT1 having 3.73's.

But there is no question that the LT1 has the traction game won and nice low end torque which is why I think he'd win the race from a dig.

But enough bench racing, line em up and see what happens.

agreed. I hung with my buddies 99 TA with a lid and LM, and accually pulled on him a bit from a stop with the mods below.. granted he was a vert with 2.73's.. its a different story though now that he's got 3.42's

Talking

i am very impressed with how my car performed froma stop it was a massacre, i put about 3 maybe 4 legnths on him, and no...he wasnt pulling back, from a roll it was a little closer, about at a 50-55mph punch he hit it just a slight hair first but as soon as i hit it i put about 1/2 a car on him, it was steady and we stayed in those positins until about 110 and then we both let off...sorry to dissappoint you ls1 guys
