I never really noticed that when racing LS1s at higher speeds (4th and 5th) in a M6. When I race them I can pull them in 1st and 2nd gear but there 3rd gear (M6 also) just goes by me. Then my 4th and 5th to their 4th and 5ths are dead even. Of course when modified LS's are just nasty.

redline start at 6800, so there is no problem going to 6600 rpm

now add a novi supercharger to that 10.1:1 high compression ratio engine, and you have a Novi Blown Mach 1 460 RWHP 408 RWTQ. (of course is an expensive option but if you can afford it go for it)

not bad for the little 281 cid ha

Nice! Thats like my buddy's cobra..its a few years old and redlines at 6,800...i hate to admit it, b/c i'm a diehard chevy fan...but god there's nothin like takin that motor up to redline..the sound of that thing is sweet! And the best part is how fast it revs...in neutral, one little stab at the gas, and the tach would swing way up to like 5,500 RPM Sounds like you gotta nice car man, have fun with it!

hey thanks man.
this is the first ford car i've driven. my father drives a 1969 454 camaro, and my brother is driving a 1999 camaro ss. as you can see i'm the black goat of the family . even though all of us were against ford and especially mustangs almost all our life i ended up buying one . they used to tell me what i've done and stuff like that, but once they drove it, they have a lot of respect now for the mach's.

my brother was driving her yesterday morning and we went up against a brand new mazda rx8. i never thought those cars could sound good at high rpms, but they do, although they don't have to much torque at low rpms cause we ripped that car appart from a death stop , my brother got her into second and we've put buses against the little rx8

then in the afternoon we lined up at a ligth with a black subaru wrx sti, lowered suspension, black rims, aftermaket exhaust, you could hear the bov a mile away , you could see tha face of the guy driving and his friend when my brother was giving them some revs and the typical game signal . we went with the green and those bastards took out at high rpms (dang awd but we were playing catch up, and we got them in third at 100 mph, with at least 2 cars in front of them , then my brother was calling off the race braking, and this suckers were doing the so typical ricer flying pass by, what else could you expect...

he was amazed of the power of my car and he was telling me about the differences between his 99 and my friend '02 ss. he said i could take him with a really good launch, but also the longest the race the best chances of the ss to edge me out. i'm very aware of the chances cause i've driven his ss also.

but oh well as you said the idea is to have fun,and for sure i'm having it

ok ladies, we did it today.
i'm impressed with the capabilities of my car.

we decided to do 3 runs, from a stop, from a roll at 50pmh, from a roll at 70mph.

first run i killed the ss so bad, my friend was spinning the s***t out of those tires. so i didn't have to put to much of a fight. shutdown by 60mph .

second run, from 50mph, i dropped into 2nd and bam here we are, side by side , shifting into third and i have 1/4 of car in front of him. we shutdown at 80 mph.

third run from 70mph. i'm in third and pulling as well as him. here is where the ls1 shine. i knew it , i was doing 105 mph in third and there was my friend 1/2 car in front of me. i shift into fourth and shutdown at 110 mph with the same 1/2 half car behind him.

it was fun as hell, my friend didn't think i could keep up with him from a roll , he knows he need to practice the launch.

my brother is still telling me that an ls1 should start walking me after 130-140 mph. we didn't go that far because safety concerns, but i do believe him.

So the first race he lost 'cause he can't drive.

Second race, why did you only run from 50-80? How long did that take? About 3 seconds?

Not saying you didn't beat him. You did, 2 out of 3. Maybe next time you should drive the SS and see how bad you kill the Mach 1. It just looks to me like the driver didn't do to well in the SS.

Nice driving.

Not exactly. I think they had different cams, heads, intake, programming, etc. The Mach 1 puts out more bottom and midrange power.

The Mach 1 vs. LS1 is a driver's race (stock for stock).

Yes, this is a good example.

Isn't that what I was saying? He won in the Mach 1 and he would win in the SS also.

Wow, something dont make sense here. How does the MACH1, (both being manuals) keep up witht the LSI with a I dunno 40 to 50 RWHP advantage?

It seems to me that the LS1 should have killed the MACH1 from a roll. I guess he cant drive for sure.
