lt1 vs. ls1
so a couple days ago im driving and whats ahead of me at the stop light a nice black ls1 trans am. So the kid looks at me and asks if my cars fast and i asked if he wanted to find out but when the light turned he didnt hit it? hmm so he pulls next to me and says his friend has a video camera...so we go to get the camera and go to this long straight away in my city and race.....The first race we did from a drop he obviously beat me he has a M6 i have an A4 the kid said he had an LS6 conversion which i read was better flowing heads and bigger cam but supposedly only helps with top end but anyway he really didnt pull much on me so i thought hmm and tell him to run off the line. We stop and after the 3 honks we both hit it...me being an idiot spun em for about 1/2 a second, let off then hit it and it was close....i had him by about two lengths and was still gaining on him from 80+ after the race he asked if i had spray and i replied "nothing but motor bro" and that was it. these 2 *****'s with GT's didnt believe that i won cause i have an LT and he had an LS without taking the consideration of my mods but what the hell do they no.... i no i won thats all that matters

Im actually really suprised you gave him a run like that with not even headers! ... Then agian you do have a stall, and gears, which really wake them cars up.

a friend of mine has a bone stock LT1 with good miles, open y pipe, he wan another friends ls1 (both A4) with suspension work, full intake and exhaust, a stall, and mickey thompson ET streets, and the LT1 spanked him... i dont understand how, they went from a dig and the LT1 won

BS....It annoys me so bad to read this kind of crap.
The only way you could have beat this guy or he barely pulled you is because he cant drive. THats the only way.
A head/cam LS1...You was pulling on him at 80 in your LT1 with out headers or anything. Even if you had cam/heads you still wouldnt have been pulling him at 80 unless he was having a stroke.

I have owned 4 LT1 cars and when the 99 was stock it was faster then all of them. Wen I bought the LS1 I had a LT1 that ran a 12.9@105 with headers,4:10's,PCM4less tune,clutch. My buddy drove the Z and we raced. I suashed it from a 10MPH roll.
You beat an 11 second car in you 13 second car and was pulling him@ 80 in his domain. I love this.

Because he was running on 5 cylinders.
A stalled LS1 with ET streets,intake,exhaust got waxed bye a high miles a stock LT1...GAWD DANG!!! I may just leave this site and never come back. Its the same Crap once a week.

I may as well let everyone know about my race in my 97 lumina, I raced one of those turd LS1 vettes with a stall,headers and a 150 shot and I destroyed him. Wy did they even start producing these LS1's?

i think what the kid said about the ls6 was BS his car really didnt pull on my from a drop and i beat him from the dig...if it was a regular LS1 which i very much think it was and he was tryin to scare me i no it had exhaust by the sound but thats it

Maybe it just had a LS6 intake and the kid called that an LS6 conversion? Who knows ... What I do know is that you would have to be a real **** to just "make up" a story on here, and especially an unbeleivable one. The guiy with the LS1 car pulls his dick. And if you had a heads/cam LT1 that was slower than your stock LT1, you put together one ****ty combo that was in serious need of a tune.

Sorry guys, but I have to state the equation: LS1 > LT1
After owning both, I believe I have the right to make judgement, as when I had my LT1 I HATED LS1s.
My bone *** stock WS6 was neck-and-neck with my buddies 1LE LT1 in a race from 10 MPH-90MPH, M6 vs M6. I was only driving for a week so my shifts sucked, but if I was on the ball I would have beaten him. He has 224/230 Cam, shorty headers with full exhaust, all intake, 4.10 gears, short shift, tuning, etc. I was stock except for a short shift.
The guy you raced obviously had no idea what he was talking about, which means he probably had little idea how to drive his car.

Your story would be far more believable if you claimed to have launched perfectly and then held him off. But to botch the launch and still pull him hard in the slower of the two cars is crazy. I used to say "good driver kill" but this has gotten rediculous. There is no way every LS1 M6 driver sucks. I'm just not buying it anymore.

Not all LS1's are the rockets people think they are. I beat a TA with just headers, cat back, and CAI. By 3rd I had about 2 car lengths on him and was still pulling. I shut it down at about 90. But I honestly think that by 100 I would have stopped pulling him. In the long run, say past 100, he would have probably had me? But the car lengths I did pull, I got through 2nd gear. So I was winding out where the LS1 should have started to walk on me ... This was a stock A4 ... Or at least it sounded like it didnt even have a catback on it. Driver was an older guy ... Probably a little mroe experience than me, but beatin an LS1 is not THAT out of the question.
ALOT of people cant drive a stick. ALOT ... and if he was slow on the 203 shift, its possible he picked more cars up on the top end than everyone would expect. Bad shifting makes a HUGE difference.
