Ok this isnt a kill story, but more of a "I got smoked!!!!" story. But hey its all in good fun right???

Last night me and the girl are out riding around and I see a 92-93 LX Mustang out of town on the bypass. I follow it because I used to be a mustang guy and the 5.0 still has a place in my heart. Well it had out of county tags and I really can't remember where from. I follow it and he starts slowing down. LOL a highway race, great, since those 5.0's have no top end and my car loves 3rd gear drops from 6th. I push her down into 4th and pull up next to him, well we are going slow enough that I am able to drop it into 2nd when I go. He goosed it so I took bait. FYI, I have the windows up, stereo thumpin, and the bottle at home in my freezer waiting to be filled. I jumped him for about, oh 0.000009 of a sec and next thing I hear is this ungodly roar and the Mustang flys by me!!!!!!!!!. My GF and I are both just sittin there jaws dropped like WTF just happened. She had a look on her face like what the hell was that!!!!!! It had to be a turbo, single or twin, I don't know but a supercharge just doesn't sound that high strung, like at and minute its going to flip and go crazy, because that's exaclty what it did to me. I know I got smoked by a stang, but anything that sounds that good and pulls that hard deserves props. So wherever you are mystery mustand dude, I tip my hat to you because that is a bad *** car.

 

So your stock besides the gas? Yea you never know what your gonna get w/ those 5.0's...Parts are cheap and there easy to work on...finding a stock one nowadays is few and far between.

 

Nice death, those 5.0s can be pretty fast. Get your bottle up and running and maybe next time it will be a different ending.

 

Good story. It's too bad you got your a$$ handed to you, but I like your sportsmanship. There aren't too many like you out there I'm afraid.

Makes me wonder if he's on some mustang board posting about your race and what he's saying???

You're a good sport, bro. I've only raced one Mustang and I won, so I have yet to experience death at the hands of a blue oval. But I'm sure my day will come, but I don't think I'll be able to take it as well as you did, LOL...I'm a bit of a sore loser. Props dude

 

Yeah, besides the GMMG and Moroso CAI I am stock. I wish I would of had the juice on, maybe I would have stood a chance. Maybe........

And yes, those 5.0's are very hard to find, especially a nice one. Most of the 5.0's around here are just stock with exhaust. I helped build one that belongs to a friend of mine and it is just plain bad. 331 with nitrous and no accessories on the motor but an alternator. Car maybe weighs 2600-2700lbs.

Everyone else, I'm really not a sore loser, no matter what you do to your car and no matter how fast your car is there will ALWAYS be someone faster than you. If I were to get beat by some import I would be pissed, but bottom line is that he has a faster car than me and he has probably put more time and work into his car.

 

Nice run man some 5.0's are dogs others run real well. So are you keeping the car now or is it still being sold? I still want your N2O I bet you'd give him a good look on the juice.

Well I was going to sell it to help pay for an apartment and then that would be one less payment. But everything with school this year didn't quite work out like I hoped it would and instead I am going to get rid of some other stuff and hopefully be able to keep the car. I really don't want to get rid of it but if it comes down to it then it will be up for sale again. FYI, the guy here in town that said he would be by Sat with the money never showed and when I saw him at sonic he wouldn't say a work to me or even look at me.

I'm debating some stuff on the car right now and the kit may be back up for sale, I just need to make up my mind with what I want to do with it. I'll keep you in mind.

 

Good death to the 5 liter. You never know what your going to get. As far as the noise, usually the blower has an ungodly intake charge on flybys.

 

^^ I can attest to that ^^ I got raped by an 03/04 cobra on the highway while on the way back from destin and the thing I remember most was getting a slight jump then hearing this HUGE sucking sound and the blower wine and the cobra just absolutely flying by, it was awesome!

 

yeah i raced a stock cobra once and stayed with him pretty good. it was just done main street in our town so we really didnt race that far.

this car was just loud, thats all i know, and it wasnt a loud shriek like those roots blower, it was just a roar.
