I'm sorry but you're totally confused on where BHP is measured, and you're somehow assuming it is not "SAE net hp". Automobile manufacturers rate engine power at the crank, end of story. A 300hp Mustang DOES NOT make 300 to the wheels. I suppose you'd be surprised to know that your "275hp" 93 Trans Am made more like 220 to the wheels off the showroom.

um no ... Bhp and whp will never be even close to the same. I haven't read everyone's posts but in case no one has pointed it out, bhp is measured by affixing the engine to a device called an "engine brake" on which hp (actually torque) is calculated by applying enough force to keep the engine from accelerating to higher rpm. This method leaves out the drivetrain, which causes a loss of torque between the crankshaft (bhp) and the wheels (whp). Also, I have never heard of any manufacturer using a chassis dyno to get it's hp numbers for its cars. If you have some sort of literature that states otherwise I'd like to see it please.
