Ya ya ya, we all know whose car is faster from the factory, despite what the torque numbers may be....

I don't know what you consider a LOT less but a 95 A4 LT1 Camaro weights 3,475, a 92 A4 5.0 Camaro Z28 (could'nt find the 5.7, but i am sure it would weigh more) weights 3,375. The 95 M6 LT1 Camaro weights 3,390, the manual 92 Z28 weights 3,275. I don't think that is a huge difference.

My 94 Auto Z28 Convertible weighed in at 3,820 with a 3/4 tank of gas, me in it@ 200 lbs, and 50 lbs of crap in the car. The database i used lists my car at 3565, so I think the database is right on.
Keep in mind the automatic transmission adds ~85 lbs to the weight, and another ~90 lbs due to the convertible top.
There is no way a newer LS1 would hit 3,800 lbs with no passenger. I have never heard of an LS1 weighing significanly more then an LT1, if anything they weigh slightly less.

Your 3,620lbs estimate sounds about right. 4th gens are bigger over-all then the 3rd gens, which is where they get their weight from. In fact, that 3800+lb LS1 is from this very board. I forgot who it was, but I am pretty positive that in race-ready form (full gas, driver included) it was closer to 3900lbs.

LS2.com had someone take their LS1 F body to a truck weigh in station and have it read around 3,4XX. Full tank of gas and all, minus the driver. Unless he weighs near 500lbs, it's no where near what your "friends" have been telling you.
He even scanned and posted the sheet stating it was 3,4XX.
Camaroguy is dead on actually. Verts weighs around a hundred lbs or so more than non verts. Given that LS1s have an aluminum block, LS1s will weigh a bit less than a LT1 car. So a 3,4XX reading in an empty LS1 non vert car with a full tank of gas and a 3,5XX reading on an LT1 vert car sounds right on the money.

^Thats interesting. The person that has the 3800 or 3900lb LS1 (I think it may have been turbo'd or S/C'd or something..) also took his in to have it weighed in. Can you find some other proof of 4th gens weighing that little?
Re: L98 T/A Vs SRT4
I have seen many dual cat speed density F bodies run 14.0s and faster stock back in the day. My own 89 ttop 350 dual cat Formula once went 14.2 at 96MPH stock(could never back it up-mostly 14.4.-14.5 at 95MPH).
L98s can run just as fast as comparable LT1s easily. With bs mods(SLP cold air,SLP prom, air foil, good wires, gutted cats) stock or close to stock LT1s could be beat on the street from a dead stop easily.
Good kill. Love L98s. Might do another one day.
