Killed with intimidation

I just finished tightening my header bolts since the new engine and tranny install and went out for a quick ride the other day. As I was pulling out of the development a nice looking SN95 Mustang convertible drove past, . . . and happened to be going the same way. I pulled out and quickly caught up to him. It was a cool blue color with Cobra wheels and sounded healthy. The driver had a gay baseball hat on that matched his car. He heard me behind him and kept checking his rear view. He dropped it down a gear and started to accelerate away from me . . . so I kept up . As we continued down the road, it was opening up to 2 lanes and the light up ahead changed red. He could have made it through, but stopped hard and fast to the point that he was practically in the intersection. To say my car is loud is an understatement. Those who are running dual 3" x-pipe systems with bullets and dumps know what I mean. Back that up with a 383 solid roller and it sounds pretty obnoxius. Anyway he asked me what I have done . . . so I told him. The first thing he said after that, "My car is too slow for you" and when the light turned green he waited until I pulled out and he poked along and kept safe distance from me

Mark down kill number 1 for the new combo with intimidation

I wonder if that car is louder than your hog?
I don't blame the Mustang guy. I would have not run either

Re: Killed with intimidation

Mike - To be honest . . . it makes my bike sound like a wuss. It's probably best described as one of those speed boats you see at the beach. You hear it for over a minute before you can actually see it. I'll email you a pic of it on idle.

Antz - Just like the stang . . . it's not worth my time to acknowledge you more than I just have

Heh - that's making me re-think (just a little bit!) the plans I have for my car - which is to keep it completely stock-looking/sounding, but have the car a good bit more beefy than stock...

When I had my exhaust done, I told the guy to put "the quietest performance muffler you've got" on there, & he did that. Now it's just about too quiet for me - until I get the e-cutout, that is! (But OTOH, quiet is nice when you're driving by the cops that you don't see until the last second!)

Good kill - it's cool to get the kill without risking points or wrecking!

Re: Killed with intimidation

Thanks Glenn . . . still got you perty lookin TA?

Eric . . I hear ya on the not scaring so easlily part, but I've got your candy The 03 cobra with "bolt-ons" that ran me last night wasn't scared . . . but got shut down

V8rumble - Hindsight being what it is, I wouldn't mind it sounding as stock as it looks. But every time I'm out someone at a light comments on how awesome it sounds. The clock is ticking on how long it will take for an excessive exhaust ticket.

Re: Killed with intimidation

i know what you mean with the noise factor. i couldnt get a race to save my life. mines pretty loud too. had to schedule a race with another board member. only had a sti try his luck. seems when your car gets obnoious like ours, you race by appointment only.

Re: Killed with intimidation

Good story.... had something similar happen earlier this year to me. Was in the middle of my nitrous install and needed to go somewhere. On the way back home a Gen 3 fbody was working real hard through traffic to catch up to me. He finally did at a light and was revving the heck out of it....sounded pretty healthy. I remembered the valve on my bottle was open ( I had been hooking up the purge ). Didn’t even have the nozzle in the elbow yet. So when he looked over I gave off a couple of nice purges and smiled at him. Light turned green and pulled away....he just stayed behind me until I finally turned off.....easiest win I ever had. INTIMIDATION! !

Re: Killed with intimidation

myslowcamaro - I think the noise can work to either extreme. Last night I had an 03 Cobra sit at a green light so I could turn right on red and be in front of him. . . he heard me coming .

whatsup - Same thing happened with my buddy. He's got a 98SS with cam and spray. A GN pulled up to him and he purged . . . the kids in the other car looked at each other and sat there when he pulled away on green.

Scott - we all know that Mike's stang is plenty fast . . . he's just not sure if I'm being honest with all my mods

I almost forgot . . . Eric, get your terd tuned so we can hit Cecil.
