Killed an 05 GTO with 99 GTP

Killed an 05 GTO at Stanton last weekend. In his defense it was his first time at the track. I ran a 13.76 with street tires to his 14.01. He treed me but I never saw him after that. When I saw the 6.0 emblem after we shut down I did a little happy dance. He did finally hook up the car, but still went slower than my 13.65 earlier in the day. I was driving my slower GTP it made my day I really expected him to slaughter me.

Nice kill, but give him some seat time in that car, and he will be running much better. That time is pathetic for the '05 GTO.

Re: Killed an 05 GTO with 99 GTP

I would have to find the time slip. He was not trapping well. Seems like 104 if I remember correctly. He had a hard time hitting all the gears too. He was wheel hopping alot earlier in the day and just staying in it. I don't know if that was the case when he ran me because he was behind me. I would venture a guess that he was spinning and wheel hopping though based on his time. I did see him make a clean pass and run a 13.69 and he hit all the gears. Still pretty weak from what I expected from the 6.0 liter. I'm sure it will get faster as he gains experience. It still felt good to beat him. I red that the new Vettes have an aggressive torque management system, I wonder if the new GTO's have the same. This could hurt their track times.

First off good kill.
It sounds like you beat the driver
But, please don't pigeon hole the 05 GTO if this guy can't drive for ****

I promise in the hands of a semi competent driver he'd be knocking out low 13s to high 12s no problem.

GTO's definitely have wheel hop issues, but 13.69 is pretty poor regardless. I've seen a lot of guys over at ls1gto.com running better times than that in the 04's. I know the auto's have pretty aggressive TM, but not sure on the 6 spds.

I figured that it would run at least a low 13. That is why I was exited that I won.
