Ever get involved in a "race" that you didnt even know you were a part of? I was sitting at a light fiddling with my cd player and when I looked up, the light was already green (oops) so I left the line a bit aggressively to make up for the fact that I held up ppl behind me for a moment. I get to the next light and there is this kid next to me in a corolla, who must have been next to me since the last light, looking over with a big grin giving me a thumbs up and asking if I wanted to go again. I was confused as to what he meant, until it dawned on me that he mistook my my spurt of acceleration as me trying to race him.

Normally, I wouldnt waste my gas, but I couldnt stand the thought of a guy driving his mom's grocery-getting special corolla going home and telling ppl that he hung with z28, even if it was a slow LT1. So when the light turned green, I let him hit it first, and proceeded to pass him sideways up to the speed limit, at which point I shut it down. I tapped my brakes to let him know that I had already shut down, and waited for the inevitable flyby. Then waited some more. And a bit more. Ah, there it is.

 

Wanna go again?!

I had a guy in a Grand Prix (wasn't even the GTP) try to "race" me a couple weeks ago ... well buddy gets all aggressive, and cuts a guy off just before a red light so that him and I will be side by side. Just prior to that I had turned onto this road and sped up a little quick, so he thought I was ready to RACE. Anyway, we get the green, he punches it, so I just roll onto the throttle enough to stay with the guy and then put a little space (and show the guy who's boss ) ..... well after that, I let off, and THERE IT WAS ... the Ricer Fly-By!!!

I still don't understand them?!

 

Not defending the ricer flyby, but I have to imagine it happens most often because they don't know you shut down yet, and that maybe their vtec kicked in, yo!

I've inadvertently raced a few cars, and only realized it when a song ended and I could hear their revving to redline. Even with my windows open, I have to ATT it to hear other cars.

 

That is a possibility, but I always tap my brakes to show that Im shutting it down. But then again, those 4 bangers sure have some top end bone stock, what, with them trapping 95mph and all

My buddy's Accord with an H22A swap (rated around ~195 HP, plus he's done a couple upgrades) trapped 92 mph. Now that was last year, and be blew a CV joint on his 2nd or 3rd run, so he's hoping to get out and run better this year ... he also did the engine and beefed up the front suspension since then (poly bushings, camber kit, etc.). His best run with the "stock" H22A was 15.5x @ 92. Like I say, it should be quicker now though.

Still, nowhere near an F-body.

 

I understand swapping an integra motor into a lighter civic, but I dont understand the point of putting a prelude motor into a heavier accord. If you want to race with a somewhat roomy *** car, go with a maxima!

maybe i'll swap in a BBH (big block honda - H22!) into my accord too. I have a 95 ex-r.

 

My 1993 Civic EX automatic, stock but with a big hole in the exhaust, ran a 17.2 @ 79. I might have gotten into the 16's if I had brake-torqued the launch. I was just going off idle.
