Your car is even worse. its not built even half as good as Cobras which is saying alot. but I am sure after $40k you will get it to hold boost for 6 months.
i think the moral of the story is just like f-bodies, supras are also OBSOLETE!!!
but yes they are nice. wouldnt mind owning one myself. but by no means are they gods gift to automotive. im just saying, you can still buy a mustang at a decent price, maybe a camaro next year, supras? i cant find a nice one for under 33k. rather buy a whatever car and dump some money under the hood (doesnt have to be boost) and end up with some money left over to buy gas to drive the thing.

Re: Highly modified mustang got taught manners

GotBoost: So aside from the obvious weak pistons, two bolt main ( which will hold 600hp or so) and the opti sparks design flaws, I still dont see how the 4.6 is SO much better. Especially seeing how there is this site pointing out all of its weaknesses and that its prone to breaking. I doubt there are many STOCK 4.6's making 700hp for any time longer than a week at best before they go south. Once you exceed the 500 hp mark in any engine, you will have to consider aftermarket forged parts. Not some factory crap. And whats this talk of LT-1s having weak oil pumps They are actually a very good high volume design and are reliable as hell. Never heard of a failure there unless you are using gear oil instead of 5W-30. In closing, even though some parts are obviously not suited for high HP, there are things on the LT-1 and the 4.6 that are more than capable. Its that any intelligent person wouldn't take the chance of blowing a motor by not replacing a stock part with a stronger/ more reliable aftermarket one.

ive seen 5-10 mkiv turbo supras in the last 3 weeks under 25k with not very high mileage. (under 100k)

and PTK- a supras engine can hold 700+rwhp for a long while. i think i read someplace on supraforums a while ago about several that have been doin that for several years on an almost daily basis. a good friend of mine makes close to 800rwhp on stock internals and drives it very regularly (several times a week to work).

03 cobras are making 500+rwhp on stock engines. hell you can do that with bolt ons and a ported blower and if your tune is good you wont be pushing the stock internals. ive seen 1000rwhp from a shop twin turbo 03 on stock internals. dunno how much it was driven tho. another local guy has a twin turbo 03 makin 750+rwhp but im not sure about engine mods nor how much he drives it.

Re: Highly modified mustang got taught manners

all the supra and cobra have over the lt1 is there inernals came forged from the factory. you comparing the hyperetectic pistons to forged ones. an lt1 could ahndle that much power if it had forged internals. who cares what the car came with stock, if you wanan build a real motor your gonna ditch the stock ****.

GOTBOOST is a tool bag.

who gives a crap who you race? i like to race anything that wants to race me. in fact, just the other day i saw a kid in an auto store who owns a pimped out acura integra. we talked a little about our cars and whats done to them. after, he asked me if i would race him to see how close his car would be to mine. i said sure and we raced 3 times. one from a dig, and 2 from a 20 roll. the point is, if i can line up agaisnt a viper, vette, civic, or supra and they want to race (in a safe area), then im all for it. if i know i am going to get my a$$ kicked, i still race. i dont care about what kind the car is. to me, it is fun to race people

oh yeah, i talked to the acura guy after we raced and he was cool about losing saying he needs to do more things to his car to mkae it faster. i gave him props, as he did me, and off our separate ways into the sunset

Lol its time for this again. Rawazzlt1...i mean gotboost? posted something to **** people off and what did it do...it worked!!! Lol though ptk you do always end up making yourself sound pretty stupid.

Oh and tell the Bulls car club in detroit that a stock lt1 crank is weak...they all run them in there small block chevy IIs and are running 200 plus shots of nitrous. All are in the 10s and street driven except for a wagon that is only at 11s or 12s...been awhile.

There are '03 Cobras running low 9's on the stock longblock, the forged stock internals are good for well over 900 hp.

Re: Highly modified mustang got taught manners

87camracer: Read my post. Clearly states I was talking about a 4.6 modular ford engine not being able to run at 700hp for very long, not a supra. I have many friends in seattle that are running stock bottom end supras with 700hp, no problems. The modular ford at that level is a diffrent story.

jameslt1TA: At what point in this argument have I been proven wrong or looked stupid. Coming from a guy with a practically stock LT-1 with no boost, yet you seem to always pipe up and S**T when we have a discussion. There is quite a diffrence between pissing people off and making lofty statements about cars that you dont even drive. Im totally calm. Just calling BS. Laugh all you want, you still drive a slow car.

Yup, people will fall for it everytime. I mean, what kind of loser do you have to be to get banned from a site and then come back with a new account and post the same retarded stuff.

Supra's don't. The rods and crank are forged, but the pistons are resin coated cast aluminum alloy.....
