Re: H/C LS1 vs Turbo Civic(video)

I could be wrong, but did i see only one tail pipe? Maybe he bought an exhast that only has one tail pipe. Or maybe it's not a bolt on ls1 but a v6 with bolt on ss badges . Also didn't look like he was accelerating at all.
Or maybe im just in denial and there really are fast hondas(i know some of them are extremely fast).

Re: H/C LS1 vs Turbo Civic(video)

I have seen an integra whoop on my friends heads cam 12.2 sec LS1 but both those cars look and sound slow to me. With out looking at the mods I would say that it was a modified turbo civic vs a stock SS or SS clone. I will give the civic props but it seems to be a little weird. The integra that beat my friends Z28 also dynoed 380 to the wheels and when it took off on the highway at 65 it spun em like crazy and the z28 did the same. On this video it doesnt appear that anyone is spinning even at a lousy 40mph. Anyone else observe this?

your freind must ahve a tiny cam, and lightly ported heads or he cant hook. 12.2s for a h/c ls1 isnt much to brag about.

Re: H/C LS1 vs Turbo Civic(video)

Ok I was the guy video taping the race. Actually probably any vids you see of that car are videotaped by me. The SS is a 99 SS C1 cam, long tubes, ory, lid, maf ends, LS6 intake, bullet muffler hence the one tail pipe. I could be missing some stuff but I believe that is all. The Civic is a 00 Si fully built GSR motor by JG Racing out of california ($9200 motor here) has a 60-1 turbo. He made 353 on pump gas but maxed out the intercooler on race gas and with 10 more psi only made 380rwhp. With a bigger intercooler and piping they were going for 500+ whp on race gas but he has chosen to sell the car and either get a supra or f-body now as he's sick of dealing with issues from the civic. There's the story. Car also beat an LS1 that traps 119 by about a car I'm not sure if that's one of the vids posted or not though. He did not get a jump on the SS. That initial pull was from brake boosting. There ya go fellas so stop hating cause his civic is faster than over half the cars on this board.

Re: H/C LS1 vs Turbo Civic(video)

Oh forgot to mention. The civic was only making 320 whp in the making of this video. The day he had more tuning done and made 353 is the same day the car broke so he has no race vids with that setup. Was supposed to race an auto/stall/gears/tires/cam/ls6 heads LS1 but that guy sorta woosed out and his civic ended up breaking on his way home.

it just doesnt seem possible with the facts here
the civic made 320 at the wheels when they raced
the ss makes stock about 300 to the wheels (it's got the intake/exhaust thing already so it should be more than that)
then this ss is supposed to have a cam, full exhaust, minor stuff which should be good for about 380 at the wheels or over? (not sure how big that cam is)
the civic might weigh less (maybe because the turbo/intercooler, etc. adds some serious weight) which might account for a car length or two
but the ss still lost?
is this like the worst driver in the ss compared to an awesome driver in the civic or what?
i'm not saying your bs-ing or anything, just trying to see how the civic would beat it with only making 320 whp that day

the civic weighs about 23-2500 lbs. the ss probably weighs 3500 atleast. thats alot of weigh difference there even stock. i was expecting the civic to pull harder so maybe the heavier turbo and IC came into play there.
