GTP -vs- Silverado SS
Wel.. The race finailly happend. After a few days of my boss bitching about not wanting to. They did it yesterday after work. They were going to do it today but the guy with the GTP as a 4 day weeknd. Good thing too, Its pooring rain here in vegas.
Anway... They went from a stop and then from a roll in front of our office there is a street that ends in a circle and then leads out to a street that is a good mile or so. So it was perfect for doing some quick races.
1st, From a stand still... We had everyone that was watching stand at the spot where the race would end so everyone would get a good look. Well.. From a stand still both got pretty good launchs. That GTP has some power it spun the front tires pretty good. The SS just jumped and then took off (Awd) they were pretty even for about 30mph, Then the GTP started walking on him. The driver said by 60mph he had "a couple" cars on him and when they finsih the GTP driver said he was doing about 105mph and he was ahead by a good 8 cars. I was surprised to see that the GTP just kept pulling.
2nd, From a roll (40mph) Once floored they stayed dead even for alot longer then they did from a stand still. By the tiome they passed us the GTP only had about 1 1/2-2 cars on him. But you could tell the GTP would have kept putting cars on him as the speed got higher.
Well, It took long enough but they finally ran. I knew the GTP was pretty quick because i had my *** handed to me by one. But i thought the SS would have gave more of a fight from a stand still. 8 cars was a pretty big lead. The guy said he ran a 14.8 at the track with that GTP. That would put the SS in the low to mid 15's.

Man, do those new SS trucks really weigh 5300 lbs? My dad's 93 K1500 4x4 single cab only weighs like 4100 or 4200 lbs. Man, 8 car lengths is pretty embarassing. Is your boss glad he paid $40k for a Super Slow truck?
Maybe that Raw Lightning power would have helped. (I'm all for the bowtie, but I'd love a Lightning)

Thats even better than i would have guess. But I figured a stock GTP would loose on a 40mph roll. 40mph is the WORST spot to start a race with a GTP, the stock PCM calibration sucks. But at 35/36 mph the GTP would have walked a little harder.
Stock GTP PCMs have a 40 MPH lag and most are turds from that speed.
