I just think it's funny that Ford has to supercharge it's cars to compete with the GM cars. Imagine if the LS1's 2's etc were blown. No contest.

What some people don't seem to realize is that even though the GT500 is a little slower than anticipated ( probally because of weight) But a mid 12 second car stock is a fast car. How many other cars that can run quicker than mid 12's Bone stock. There are some such as Z06,viper,etc. but not many at all considering all the different cars out there.
In a year you will be able to buy them for the $40k sticker. Name a new $40k car that you can buy and run mid 12's bone stock?
And since the GT500 already has a blower. You can pick up a smaller pulley, exhaust and fuel system for cheap money and make huge power.
Its basicly a '03-'04 cobra taken up a notch in performance and looks.
If I had $40k I'd buy one but on the other hand if I had $70k I'd definatly buy a Z06

This really isn't even worth a reply, but here's one anyway:

the one in my area (1/8th mile track) runs 7.5's modded around 94mph. thats with street drag radials. of course he brings the car in on a trailor (closed in at that) my budy went and aked him what he had done to it if anything. he said pulley (i heard you coulnd't put a smaller pulley on these things, maybe he meant lower pulley) exhaust and gears. i am not sure on gear ratio, so don't ask. the guy was in his late 40's early 50's , the car was white and blue , if i am remembering correctly. its been a few weeks since i saw it. kind of sad time when you hear 500hp stock but thats not bad considering you have to get all that weight moving to start with.

It was just something I've though for a while. At least Ford has the ***** to supercharge a V8. I don't post on here very often so if this has been a sore spot in the past I'm sorry.

Hey, it's not a bad thought at all . In fact, you'll have a lot of people jump on the band-wagon with you and agree that all the Ford S/C fans out there would be screwed if us GM guys started slapping blowers on our cars all the time ... I think we'd "level the playing field" quite literally!! But then you've got the opposition who will chime in and start saying "yeah, but your LTx / LSx doesn't have forged parts in it like the Ford has right from the factory, so while you're spending your ~$5000 for a blower setup, all the Ford has to do is a couple hundred dollar pulley swap and then laugh all the way to the finish line when you blow your motor to **** because you couldn't afford to rebuild it with forged parts because you had the pay for the blower! " ...

... basically their point will always be, all they need is a pulley, and no matter what, if you want to catch/keep up, you WILL have to tear down your motor and build it back up properly - aka, forged - (whether you're going to run forced induction or not) to run with them .

The argument can go on for days . I still say it's sad that they need a blower just to keep up to an LS1/2/6/7, but "they" say it's sad that we have to tear down the engine once we run out of bolt-ons ... that's it!

My argument has always been that people aren't using their heads if they think that Ford can't build a N/A motor that can take out an LS1.

They put the blower on them because it's an easy, reliable, and cheap way to add a lot of horsepower.

I get it, I just didn't think I'd get an argument on a Camaro board. Then again I should realize more than just Camaro owners post here...like me..duhh.

They've had 10 years and have failed to do so . The current 300 HP GT is "close", but still not up to par with an LS1, let alone the LS2's, 6's, or 7's that have come into play since the LS1!!

...and here begins the battle!!! Get your dukes up!
