Got crushed by some AMG something at the track?
Got crushed by some AMG something at the track?
Took the Lightning out to the track to see how it run...ran a best of 12.61@112.8 by the way
One of the races was a silver AMG something with myself running a 12.63@112 to his 12.44@121.6...the dude went around me easily. The car only went thru the 1/8 @ 92.8...that is a pretty good topend pull.
I had read about them...not to shabby.

Sounds like you ran into an E55 maybe..If it was a 4 door then chances are it was...My friend in Florida has one of them and it ran 12.30s at 118 stock in the heat...Its a supercharged AMG V8 that makes 470 hp (which is underrated)...and they have a hell of a top end charge as they were designed for the autobahn..They do pretty well for a 4000lb touring car...If it makes you feel any better those things are $80,000...
...and your Lightning ain't nothing to sneeze at!....

Yeah it was anAMG E55 - car was fast - good MPH. First time the dude showed up at the track he had some really queer looking ivy league sweater tied around his neck at the most hillbilly'ish' track in the nation. Umm, kinda stood out a bit.

If I ever win the lottery I'm going to buy one of those. They've also got a little 2 door convertible that'll hit 11s at 120+ mph.
Their twin turbo v12 is artificially limited to something like 700 torque because they don't have a tranny that'll hold any more.

E55s are badass but amazingly enough they don't even hold a candle to some of the other AMG models out there - as mentioned... that's only a supercharged V8. They make a twin turbo V12, and even more amazingly, RennTech offers a special edition model where they shoe-horn that TT V12 into the E-class.

Then you've got the Mercedes SLR, but that's more of a racecar than a traditional mercedes, especially being that McLaren shared development on it.

E55's are wicked a$$ cars, BTW I seen one of them SLRs this past summer flyin around downtown chicago
Also the benz dealer next to where I work are always testing the E55s and SL65s here on the street I park on. I had a change to talk to the owner of the dealer when he was driving Sl65 what a beast we both took off at the same time my GT and his SL.... All I gotta say is the SL65 is more then a beast twin turbo v12........
