Got beat by a new accord.

Well first of all, This is my first post on this site. So i just wanted to say Hello. I have been posting over at the Car and Driver fourms but the people over there would rather just disagree or argue with everything anyone had to say. So i heard about this Fourm from a friend and here i am.

I was Driving to work when i saw a new body Accord Coupe a few cars ahead of me. I had not seen the new Coupe in person so i tried catching up to it so i could get a look at it. Well, As i changed lanes and gave my car a little gas to catch up to it he just took off on me. It was almost like he saw me speeding up behind him so he floored it to not let me pass (very wierd). I punched it to try and catch up and he just kept pulling and pulling on me until we caught the next light. At this point i knew he would be running from this light so i look over at him and he is already looking at me out of the corner of his eye and watching the light. So i knew it was on, Light turns green and we both floor it We were even for a little while, When i saw little i mean little. By 30 he had a car or 2 and then he kept pulling again by 70mph or so he had about 8 cars on me. It was ugly, My BMW usually keeps up with alot of cars around town. But this was not a good race. Has anyone else raced one? and what was the outcome? This things are pretty quick. My wife drives and 03 Altima and that car is a few cars faster then mine. What do you guys think the outcome would have if i were in the wifes car?

Even the Iroc may not be enough. Damn family cars are getting quicker .

I believe the fastest magazine time for the 03 accord 6spd is something like 14.5's. The autos are a little slower. Most are probably in the high 14's range. Pretty ballsy for a family sedan.

Yeah, when I was living in Germany, it was not uncommon at all to be passed by a family of 4 in a stationwagon on the autobahn going well over 100.

Wow, those Accord are faster then i thought. So i would have a hard time with one in my IROC? Man, You almost have to mod the hell out of your car just to keep up with family movers now aday.

Those new Accords are pretty quick, I never had a chance to race one tho. I would think your wifes Altima would give an Automatic Accord a run for its money dont you guys think? 6.9 to 60mph.

My wifes car is quicker then the 328, But i dont know if the altima would have even kept up with this thing. Maybe the automatic accord but this was a stick and it launched pretty good. The only time i have been pulled that hard was when i race my uncles 92 corvette, other then that i have beaten alot of cars in the BMW. Well even in a loss i still have to remember that im driving a beautiful BMW. I'll just keep telling my self that to make me feel better..

Question

I would think that a later'89+ LB9 Iroc M5 (230hp stock) would give the new Accord a decent run and a L89 A4 (245hp stock) would probably take it.
Just curious though, IROC's last year for the Camaro was '90. Do you mean you have a Z28

Yeah... its ridiculous... in 2006 the Legacy GT will come with a turbocharged EJ25 motor... Meaning its gonna share a detuned STi engine...

Dragged the new Accord V6 the other day. It was from a 50~60 rolling start. After hitting 90mph, I was around 5 cars ahead. Nice little family sedan, but the driver was way too cocky.

A Subaru Forester that runs sub 14 second 1/4 mile times is worse! What's next, Neons?

My fiance has an 03 ex v6, and from a roll she can almost hang with me if we are both near the top of 2nd gear, but as soon as we shift to 3rd the TA's torque comes into play. Those motors (the 3.0 v6) have a great top end, but still arent enough to take a 4th gen, I don't really know much about 3rd gens though since I have never owned one.

From a stop or anything where my car is in first, well thats a totally different story, but for some reason that car does really well in second....must be the gearing.
