I believe some of the high-'80's/low '90's Cobra's came w/ 245hp but I'm not sure.

Re: Got beat by Foxbody..

93 Cobras are 235 hp and 94-95 Cobra are 240 hp. I never had much problem with LT1s minor mods to minor mods with my Mustang.

Ive seen 250 hp shots of nitrous through many stock short-block 5.0Ls. Its probably a waste as even high end H/C/I cars probably cant ingest all that nitrous anyways. Every once in awhile you run into the smart ones with a couple of stages though.

you must have raced some poor drivers then. im not trying to knock mustangs, but mod for mod a lt1 is gonna take your 5.0 down. i raced a buddy's 5.0 mustang that trapped 99 with boltons, not bad for what he had. i only had an intake and we were close at first but i pulled him in the higher speeds.

i also have a few friends with fox bodys, same thing, it was close down low but they didn't cut it up top.

I used to have a nice 5 speed GT, 89, it had 100SHot and ran 13.7 with a 100 Shot.

heads and cam on a stock 5.0 usually netted 13's.

ALthough I do have friends with cammed fox bodies running low 13's becasue they pull spectacular 60's.

yet more proof to what i was saying. 13.7 can easily be netted with intake exaust on a lt1.

along with low 13's with boltons in a lt1, easy 12's with a cam.

I know of someone on this very board *cough* black hatch *cough* that trapped 98mph... bone stock of course.

Where are you running those times...? Must have the air density of space.

100 shot should be a low 13 or high 12 second car.

Heads/cam Mustangs have been solidly in the 12's for years on street tires if you have a nice combo like one from Ed Curtis or something.

THats what I ran. I didnt have a problem getting my stock M6 camaro into the 13's at the same track. I sold that car 9 years ago. I wish I still had the time slips.

My 95 ran a 12.9@105 with CAi,4:10's,and shortie headers and centerforce clutch with a 1.8 60.No cam needed. My auto would have busted out 13.5-13.6 if it wasnt missing so bad. Although my 97 is alot faster them my 95 Auto wich was the same exact car pretty much except for the 95 formula had way less miles. The formula looked new but for some reason stock was a 14.3 car. Both had the stupid 2:73 gear ratio. Only difference is my 97 should be a little bit heavier but man it has way way more power. Im putting 3:42's in it and new plug wires.Im expecting low 13's. The guy who installed the wires before I bought the car didnt position them right and one burned a hole in the side of one of a wire.

Re: Got beat by Foxbody..

I went 13.5s at 102 MPH in my fox on street radials with bolt ons as best. Went 13.4-12.9s at 107-110 depending on tune/conditions with cast iron ported GT40heads and cam with stock shortblock. With good heads now days a heads/cam car can go mid 12s at 112MPH on street radials with stock cr easily and high 11s with some traction and compression.
250 shots on a stock 5.0 from 87-92 is crazy. 150 usually nets best results.

Re: Got beat by Foxbody..

Chris Corley who was on this board back in 98 went 13.7s and one 13.6 in stock OEM trim with his A4 95 car. He got mods but his trans took a dump. He got disgusted with the car and sold it.
Seen many bolt on LT1s run mid and low 13s. Saw one with bolt ons and a Z9 cam can run 12.8 at 112MPH with street radials back in 99.

No they were all competent drivers, hell one of them was my own LT1. See heres the thing, theres alot of ragged out dumbass 5.0Ls out there. Even guys that are real knowledgable with cars dont always know the little things to make a car work. Ive spent alot of time with these cars and have always found small mod to small mods the LT1 and the 5.0L are pretty close. Major mods well...we all know who is king here.

You can take it for what its worth. Ive owned an LT1 and a 5.0L at the same time and have modded and raced each against each other to death.

And I watched a buddy of mines stock except for 3.55s 87 GT with a 100 shot only run a 12.6@109 mph. Its all about what you know. Ive watched a stroked blown and juiced LS1 car struggle to get out of the 12s. Does this mean that is the norm for such mods an LS1? I hardly think so.
