What in the fu<k does the size of the engine you would swap in to a hatchcrap have to do with the fact that stock civics like yours are slow pieces of garbage that are made for economy and they need a motor swap to keep up with stock "GT" cars as you call them?? I'm glad that GM left room for improvement in my engine! That way I can port the heads, swap parts etc, it makes it feel like mine. I don't need to buy a high strung four banger to make me feel like my car is worth something.

I'd like to go ahead and take a moment to bow down to the almighty "civic type R". For those of you who don't know, this little front wheel drive wonder is practically the envy of every race car driver out there. Once Mario Andretti was quoted as saying to his race team "damn boys, too bad driving a civic type R in the races this season is not allowed, because if it was I could sure clean up, these other drivers wouldn't know what hit 'em!!" Also, John Force was quoted as saying "I really wish I could drag a civic type R this year, I don't know how honda does it, but through their superior engineering, and the use of the letter R they have created an unparralelled drag car, forget a blown hemi V8, honda four cylinder front wheel drive powAr is where it's at!!!"

LMAO!!!!

ONCE AGAIN, and hopefully for the god damn last time.... who in the UNITED STATES drive an f'in Civic Type R? That's right, NO one. Even you said in your post that the US has watered down the Civic... news flash Sergio, you and I live in the United States, not Japan. Jesus I don't see why you always bring up the CTR like it's available to the 280 million people in this country.

My EK which was built with parts available HERE in the united states is faster than a type R...handling wise pretty close....braking wise still need to upgrade....its EASIER to surpass a CTR than to reproduce one

If that were the case, then yes I agree the Civic is a potent car. But your 110hp EK Hatch stock was not....

I had a lot of suspension mods and even with only 106hp was ALOT of fun

That's why I wonder why it's still modified tenfold over any of the Hondas....modified by who and to what purpose...check the drag strip and count the number of coupes vs hatchs....hatchs win hands down

"But with a simple brake and motor change..." Hah with a simple motor and brake change I could have a 427 in my car making in excess of 500rwhp NA.

So why not throw a 500whp B22 with 400ft lbs of torque and only 2200lbs?

I know about all Honda's history in peformance racing, as well as their street bikes. But please tell me, WHAT IN THE BLUE HELL DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH THE MASS PRODUCTION CARS HONDA BUILDS?

So if you are familair with their history how can you ask me this question? Sine the N1 enduros and 1 make racing series cars are PRODUCTION racers....95% production equipment on them and the rest is safety mods

What does a Honda formula racer have to do with the 110hp EK Hatch that you bought?

The double wishbone suspension design was a big step in creating a car that could be very tossable. The variable valve timing and lift system used was pioneered in F1.....I use it every day and can switch between cam profiles very smoothly.....how many cam profiles can you switch to?

I find it funny that you always bring up these silly irrelevant arguments.

What does a race car that you will never drive on the street have to do with your car?

The N1 enduro cars are probably THE closest to factory race as you can get.......all of their compnonents cross over and are used in street cars...by the serious guys....you think the term N1 is just a marketing scheme for Apex-i, TEIN, Toda? These parts are engineered on the circuits and are used by people who only care about going faster...not cruising the block

Please enlighten me.

It seems you THINK you know Hondas but the first and most important reason I got into them was N1.....reproducing an N1 racer that I could drive everyday....I have the motor, I have the suspension...all I need is the brakes and a cage

If I can build an N1 car in the states anyone can....if people knew what N1 was they would probably be more apt to accepting just how good EK's and EG hatchbacks are.....they are roadcourse machines ...the suspension is the same...the cars are production...the motors are the same

The drag thing is a hobby...road racing is much harsher and much more involved on a grass roots level....when you enter a playing field where power/traction/handling/balance and driver matter for longer periods youll find some cars are better than others and there not always the cars you thought of.

An FF isnt the BEST combo but IMO neither is FR or RR....but each setup can be very competitive on a lower level like which we the enthusiasts compete at and even slightly higher levels

The Speedvision cup was a great example of just how good the EK/EG chassis is................with mod restrictions Roger Foo entered a class where teh going rate for a competitve car was 80-90K....some were 150K.....Roger built his hatch for 12K and was very competitive and even won at Laguna...if a 12K EG with 15" wheels can compete with a BMW that says alot about the chassis

People dont like the way the M coupe looks either....thats fine...I dont really care about winning car shows....but those who do like it are guys like me....you can call it ugly, you can call it slow but never doubt its capabilities or doubt that it cant perform because the chassis has proven itself in scca, drag and road course racing duty....and been VERY successful

1st Naturally aspirated 4cyl into the 9's (2200cc's no less)

Unibody low 8 sec cars....not tube framed, not tubbed....factory unibody 4cyls at 2200cc's or less

As far as my car... I didn't buy it for other people's "perceptions" of me. I bought it because it is a car I find to be a great combination of performance and appearance in a sensible package for modding further.

What mods are planned and for what purpose?

I do not find your car appealing to me in this regard one bit. If I were buying a car strictly for gas-economy reasons, your hatch would be at the top... or if I were building a SCCA racer, it would receive consideration. But in terms of having a fast, awesome-looking and sounding car that I think is great as well as many others I know, your car wouldn't even be in the same region regardless of how fast it is/can be. Dude I'm sorry if you don't like my opinion, but it's just that, an opinion. I will never see myself buying an EK Honda Civic Hatchback to modify into a performance machine. It's not my idea of a "sweet" car. It fits the bill as a great "daily-driver" though.
Your opinion is fine....I am glad you like your car....but that doesnt take anything away from a chassis thats capable of holding more than 1g in cornering on STREET tires let alone R compounds or racing slicks....its a mean little road machine....add a little power and it becomes quite a threat....see which cars can hold more than 1g on street tires....youll see just how good the company it keeps is

This is an N1 civic.....take off the stickers and the mods you see are available over the counter....bring $$$

Why is it nobody talks about the older camaros? The super quick 15 and 16 sec wonders with 5+ liters?

The MAJORIY of pony cars are slower than these "rice" burners....thats a fact....so now your trying to compare a 5.7L GT car with a FF 1.6 or 1.8L car and trying to make light of A) its a naturally aspirated 1800cc motor B) only has 4 cyls yet keeps up if not outruns cars with 2 and 3 times the motor and double the cyls

Wow impressive......if the little Japanese cars are that quick with 1800cc's I wonder how fast those 2.4L J bodies are....they must break the damn sound barrier....cause they are american
Sergio: You are comparing Apples, and Oranges. First off, if you want to talk about the 15~16 sec Older "Muscle Cars" LETS talk about the 19~20 Sec Foreign Econo Boxes from the 70s, and 80s too..

Another big point to ponder is the fact that YES most imports are giving up a HUGE disadvantage in cubes, BUT MOST domestic cars are giving up a huge disadvantage in WEIGHT.

So I guess I could say my car weight 500 lbs more and is faster, just the way you could say my car has 3 less liters and is faster. Please, Approach it as power to weight if you are going to make the your motor is bigger than my motor argument.

But I do see what you are saying, and I am impressed about the amount of power They are wringing out of smaller and smaller engines, the S2000 is a great example of what is possible when engineers put their heads together and try to make big power from a little package.

We have gone over this Civics pull more weight for the size of their motor...end of story....dont believe me 3400/350 = 9.7 lbs per cube 2450/110 = 22 lbs per cube

Where is the weight advantage?

1989.........B16 CRX = 14.9-15.2

What did third gen camaro's run in 1989?

1996 Integra type R 14.6-15.2
2000 Integra type R 14.5-14.9 modded with I/H/E 13.70's

Now comparing an FF 1.8L to a FR 5.7L is silly because of sheer engine displacement and drivetrain....for a direct comparison

Here I am using Honda's.....why...cause I know if I start using Supra's, RX7's, Skylines everyone gets all pissy, complains about price and availability blah blah blah even those these sub 3.0L cars are capable of VERY impressive power figures no one really likes to admit it here

Every car has a weakness at our price level...some we choose to live with and others we mod to get rid of them......so now Hondas are garbage huh? LOL see how ridiculous the comments get....you contradict known facts of realibilty, build quality etc..to try to make the car looks bad....amazing

Hondas are not super fast out of the box.....but comapre them to other NA FF 4 bangers and try to tell me they are not the quickest, best handling and best looking cars in that market....then research mod potential and tell me the civic isnt capable of running anthing it wants to without a motor swap even....compare them to J bodies, neons, mitsu mirage, nissan sentra etc...find something faster NA 4 banger FF....try to

GT cars are a whole other breed...I can recognize that....but people in this forum dont like being comapred with other GT class cars because all the other GT cars cost too much.....A stock NSX these days runs high 12's with an NA 3.2L 6 cyl, a BPU Supra, RX7, Skyline...all 12 second contenders with minimal mods...and thats the low rent *** crap.....we havent begun to factor Z06's, TT Porches, Enzo ferraris, etc...

If any of those cars came in here and said...camaros are garbage...how "educated" would that be? How logical is that to say? F-bodies are just for guys who cant afford a corvette?

Stupid comments are pretty easy to spot because they are opinions arent based on fact and dont even make sense.

Walking around thinkin your gods gift to automobilia because you have a 13 sec CAPABLE car (even though you havent run it personally to see what YOU run) is stupid and ignorant considering the other cars which trounce the F-body

True. That means less low end torque/weight ratio and less low rpm fun.

1989.........B16 CRX = 14.9-15.2

Motor swapped car. Too bad they didn't offer that from the factory.

What did third gen camaro's run in 1989?

Low to mid 14s for the fastest stock ones!

You are using Hondas because you love them. I don't mind admitting the impressive power figures of these cars. Most people just can't afford them.

Steve a B16 CRX was STOCK in 1989....just because the cars were never avaible in the US the rest of the world was able to buy them....they exist....and they are quick considering how slow cars were in the 80's

Hell a 91 RX7 goes for 3-4 grand and is a couple of mods away from low 13's out of a 1.3L motor an 80's era chassis no less

They are affordable in non popular chassis gens most people just dont realize what they are capable of.....used Supra's used to go for low 20's with some even going as low as 18,000 before the Slow and Delirious came out...

Whats funny is most of the F-body owners that talk the most **** about other cars....dont even race...have no motorsport experiece and have relatively little motorsports knowledge....its pretty disgusting to read someone who has no clue talk about drifting like its an accident....or that X car is garbage when they have never driven one, raced against one or even been on a roadcourse ....Monday morning commentators at their best....dont know what the hell they are talking about but they could do better.....

Who cares? The car was not available in the U.S. We are talking about cars that people in this country can get.

www.car-stats.com lists that car at 14.9 stock. What couple of mods to get low 13s from that car?

Brand new LS1s were in the low 20s before they discontinued them.

I sort of agree with with u, but a 1990 CRX Si doesnt even get close to 14s or 15s lol, more like 17s and 16s on good days STOCK... all i have to say is that almost any car out there can be modded and modded to go fast.. but theres always someone faster.. *** or domestic...

Steve Y - well, multiple times in this thread and other threads, you included your new comments in the quote of the other person. why am i a troll? i've been here a year and have 25 big bad posts. i own a rwd v8 GM and i used to own a camaro (albeit a slow one). i have friends that post here.

Arctic - i LOVE the gti. it isn't great at anything, but its pretty good at everything i want out of a car. insurance is cheap, it gets decent gas mileage, it has a lot of cargo space and seats 5. quick enough to run with some 80's and early 90's pony cars in stock trim, and capable of 13's with a chip, full exhaust, and a k&n panel filter. its a decent autocrosser and most importantly, its fun to drive. i like the 20th AE's, especially the blue ones. one of my better friends bought a yellow one and i'm jealous of him
