Re: Gonna Get a Run with a Type R

A front wheel drive car with no torque is a PITA to outlaunch a z28 in. He would have to be a really good driver to do that. As long as you don't completely mess up the launch you will jump out on him and just hope you hold him out. Good luck.

This is the car that a stock 99 GT owned in a ricer rag comparo. Granted it was on a long track, but IMO he's gonna be eating your poo.

The Type Rs are good for high 14s stock; the GSRs were low 15 second cars. Could be a close race, for sure.

I'd hand it to the f-body provided you don't run your auto from a roll. They always wanna run from a roll cuz they can't launch and I've got an auto.

Some may be but Im willing to bet the average numbers for these cars are mid 15's.

Re: Gonna Get a Run with a Type R

If this guy is talking about "double clutching" his gears and outshifting your auto I wouldn't count on him having all the mods he claims to have.

Since he probably just has an intake and a fart can have fun busting this guys ***.

Re: Gonna Get a Run with a Type R

I raced a real Type R once, with my bolt on LT1 (Headers, Gears, Catback, Cutout, CAI, etc..). The Type R had all bolt ons, Drag Radials, and was N/A. We raced from a stop and I blew him away, I was spinning my tires, and still pulling him I shut down at 60ish because it was pretty bad. We raced from a roll with the same results. Of course this isn't a fair comparison to your situation, but I think he shouldn't beat you too bad, if he does win. In my case, I left this guy like he was standing still, a CAI/Cat Back LT1 should do okay, win or lose.

Also, like stated before he is using lines from "The Slow and the Delirious" he is most likely a Rice Boy wannabe.

Stock my friends 98 ITR went 14.8 @ 98. They are pretty stout, and with his mods, on slicks his car could crack a high 13 at best I'd say. Race him from a stop, from a roll, if he can drive, he will be in first and pull you hard.
