finally get to race a sti
well it's been a while since i've posted a kill... not to say i have not had any, just nothing that i was looking foward to... anywho i'm driving home after hanging out with the car guys and it's about midnight-ish, it's kind of cool and the humidity is quite high, and be-bobin along going home and i spy in the rear view but scooooobie lights... well i got a quick view of the tail, saw aftermarket exhaust and figured, dang it's about time, i'm sick of being in the wrong car and or going the wrong way to race one of them when i see one... well i throw it into 3rd (60ish mph) and we're off... he hits it 1st and gets about a 1/4 panel on me, about 2 seconds later i'm skating by him @ a good 3+ mph clip... rinse and repeat 3 times, was a lot of fun... i was surprised that i walked him as quickly as i did...
Just curious... does anyone else find this to be a little questionable? I have to admit that I'm completely ignorant of the VR4 galant, and not sure what mods you have. Did a quick google search to see this info on www.dsm.org :
from the factory:
turbo-charged, intercooled, Mitsubishi 16-valve 2.0 litre engine rated at 195 hp @ 6000 rpm and 203 lb-ft of torque @ 3000 rpm
five-speed manual overdrive transmission
four-wheel independant suspension
four-wheel disk brakes with anti-lock feature (two-channel)
full-time all-wheel-drive with a center viscous coupler (indefinitely variable with a standard 50/50 torque split)
power-assist speed-sensative four-wheel steering (same-phase up to 1.5 degrees, above 30 mph) - with a "4WS" sticker for the rear window.
vs. the 300hp 300 ft/lb tq STI running 13.3 1/4's stock
Did the other driver miss every shift? Someone please shed some light on this for me. Thank you.

Re: finally get to race a sti
Galant Drivetrain is the early DSM (Eclipse TSI AWD) drivetrain. Think Lancer Evo in a slightly heavier body and you get the idea about modability and capability!

mine is @ 400hp or so... i stay even with cars that run mid 12's on the highway, the car is quick...
Re: finally get to race a sti
Yep, no better sleeper than a Galant VR4, especially as the years go by. Fewer & fewer people even know what one is.
For the rest of you, you've got to realize that when a Galant owner won't list their mods, they are probably quite numerous

I once had Galant VR4 # 746/2000. I miss it enough that I'll probably get a Subaru Legacy GT (almost the STi drivetrain in a family car).
