Me and my buddy has a $50 bet, he has a 2001 firebird 3.8 v6 a4 with a k&n filter and a flowmaster muffler, my gf's car is a 2001 eclipse 3.0 v6 m5, we are gonna run them at the track in a couple of weeks for the money,, i have got him about 1 and 1/2 car lengths on a 60mph punch to 120,, so how do you think i would do in the quater against him

If you own a 93 Z, assuming whats in your signature, why the hell would you race him in your g/f's eclipse?

I use to have a 98 v6 Camaro with catback and a whisper intake lid with K&N and beat those model eclipse v6's all the time. I ran one once on the interstate from 70mph to 120 and beat him by a good 2-3 cars. I might be close but i think the Camaro will beat it.

 

any chance you know his gearing?

they come factory with 3.08s, and an optional 3.42s..

close race, depending on his gears, and your driving, if I had to bet the v6, because I have only raced eclipses in my old car and I still beat them with a mid 15 second car.

 

robbie i really doubt you took the eclipse from a highway roll unless the eclipse was an auto cuz my buddy has already destoyred an auto eclipse, cuz when i raced my buddy i even let him have the kick, the 3 times we ran, i took him all 3 times, he has the lsd 3.42 gear in his car, and i think i shift the thing farely well myself

 

Very easy to believe that he took him at a highway roll. My buddy (he is on this board because he has a z28 now) used to have an A4 95 3.8 with 3.42's and cai. We beat a 00 or so gst from a roll. The gst had exhaust and a bov at least. We beat him from a 25-85 roll or so. We pulled him by about 4 cars. We talked to him at the next light and he thought we were in a z28 by how hard we pulled him. Those cars stock are nothing. Easy win for the bird if he doesn't spin or something.

it is the new body style, 3.0 v6 with 200hp, ive never seen one of those gst's in action, i killed my buddy in a 99 grand am gt in it already, and ive raced the firebird in my 01 grand am gt and lost about a 1/2 car to about 80, another thing is my gf had a 99 camaro y87 last yr and it shut down at 119 and car and driver says the eclipse will do 140

oh yeah,, i dont think it would be fair to race him in the z

Yea it was the newer style gst that we beat. They are very slow. Pulled it hard in a v6 camaro that we thought was fast until I raced the v6 in my z28 when it was running bad, always has been, and pulled it by a couple 2 or so cars from 0-80 and I was spinning until 70 or so. They are fast in the honda world but nothing compared to an american sports car, not even the v6. That is the experience I have gotten from them.

 

i dont think they make gst's anymore,, i thought they just made the rs,gs,gt, and the spider in which the gt is faster than the other too, what kinda times does the firebird/camaro put out at the track,, i just found the times for the eclipse 15.3@91.4mph
