Eclipse has no traction?

Since my car is in storage this story is from late last year.

It's raining and I am on my way home with my g/f from a night out with my friends at Quaker Steak and Lube, we turn off the wrong exit a drive for a while. It was my first time driving from there to my college. I know I am lost after 4 stoplights and at the 5th one. Ok, I am thinking, I'll just pull a U-turn and get back on the highway. Suddenly a newer eclipse pulls up beside me. I look over just to make sure is wasnt one of my friends and see the driver is over exaggerating his "detroit lean" and and gives me a chin up kinda nod. I turn to my g/f and say "G's hun do these imports follow me everywhere?" I can tell he is going to try to race me and sure enough the light turns he goes. I let him get a head start while I wait for the point at which I can floor it on wet pavement. I hit it and the rear breaks lose for a while until I ease up. I then shoot past him and shut it down. Of course he attempts a ricer fly by and as he comes even with me it gun it again and put him in his place.

Here is the good part.. We get to the next light and the pulls into the left turn lane. He looks over and rolls his window down so I do the same. I say "nice race" and he smiles and replies "Ya well you know I cant get any traction cause my tires are worn" To which I smile and reply "Oh really? I cant any traction because of all this damn torque" His smile disappears and he turns left. Just thought I'd share that with you guys.

But I bet you guys already knew how those stock 2003 eclipses lose traction Cause I didnt

It was an 03? Those things are trash. The only real eclipses are DSMs. Good job putting him in his place.... and in rain too (since FWD doesn't handle better in rain and all ).

Well it was the new one with harder edges, I am guessing 03. And yes, AS WE ALL KNOW FWD is known to lose traction when they have so much power to the wheels, as in stock modern eclipse's I also wonder how his newer car lost all that tire tread so soon.

Traction was his excuse and his excuse blew. He lost b/c his car is a ball-less chick ride. My g/f wants one b/c they "are such girly cars"

To let you know how slow they are, I'm taking my Grand Marquis to an import meet next month (running my Stealth too if it has a clutch) just to run the 2000+ Eclipses and embarrass them as they lose time & time again against a big sedan. It'll take a bottle for one to beat me - I expect 15.0s or even high 14s with traction. I've spent about $500 in mods
