First of all its a GSR and secondly honda motors are very turbo friendly i'm talking 13psi all day on a totally stock b18c. Now back to the original subject, I've been in the import scene for a very long time some of these econo boxes will just run circles around you, if your friend isn't lying about his mods then you should be able to beat him. Just be careful because those cars weigh nothing and 170hp on a 2100lbs car is a pocket rocket.

2100 lb / 170 hp = 12.35 lbs/hp
3500 lb / 300 hp = 11.67 lbs/hp

I wouldn't exactly call it a pocket rocket. Fast for a Honda, yes, but considering the narrow powerband & the power to weight ratio, a decent f-body should still have no problem beating it.

Is that supposed to mean something? I've been in the American Muscle scene for a little bit, and I can tell you for every import that will "run circles around you" there are 200 American cars that would whoop it's ***; starting with a 40 year old car known as a ZL1 (Or Yenko) Camaro for one.

Re: E F B16 Civic hatch

Got a buddy with a 92 4dr accord with a swap and him and another guy at work seemed to think hed give me a good run. I laughed when they said it. Played with him at a light after leaving work and smoked him without hitting 4 grand. He told me he hit mid 15s with the swap. Just my experiance.

Tell that to the 1000+hp imports on street tires that , "torque" dosen't mean "fast" and thats what all american cars have is "torque" which is a big reason why i bought my Fbody. My Rx-7 is pretty close to stock and is only pushing 302hp/268lbs of torque but i guess its still slow because its an import? like i said before it will run circles around my camaro in reverse.

Re: E F B16 Civic hatch

I think you'll take him. Every import owner w/ a swap thinks he's king of the hill. At least around here anyway. Ive owned imports before, never really liked them. Went to a American muscle car, havent looked back.

I did like my Conquest because it could handle, and stop. Something domestic cars arent too well know for (except F-Bodies/Vettes). Imports just arent appealling to me. I want alot of metal around me. It already saved my life once. I'd love to have an F-Body, but the insurance would kill me. Unless its a 89 and one of 1555.

Wow judging by this retarded response you must have no clue about Yenko or ZL1 Camaro's. From the factory the were putting out around 560hp, running high 11's, low 12's on factory tires, and with slicks low 11's. Did I mention this was factory? Your argument holds ZERO water; which import, if you dont mind my asking, came with 1000hp stock????? I've never heard of that one before
What year rx7 do you have? If you say an 80's Turbo II I'll have to ****-slap you across the earlobes for ever thinking such a thing.
And about the whole Imports not being fast thing.. I dont know why I'm being quoted as saying that, as that's blatanly a falsification if you are trying to pin that on me. There are a fast import or two (i am talking factory here... lets not get into modding hoss), but they have nothing over American Muscle.

EDIT: I see you have a '94 rx7. Dont know much about them, but I do know that the only thing they will run circles around a Camaro in is handling; your '01 Z will trash it power-wise.

Re: E F B16 Civic hatch

Obviously your the retard that knows nothing about yenko camaro's. What Yenko did was purchase stock camaros and modified them to re-sell at the factory, so guess what buddy! They were FAR from stock, i could go on all day about NISMO & TOM skylines that were sold at the factories in japan and had a range from 460hp-600hp but they aren't stock so whats your point? I could go on and on about other companies that do the same. And look up to see what 93-95 Rx-7's ran stock and compare them to 93-02 camaro/firebird they are pretty even.

Re: E F B16 Civic hatch

Wow a domestics vs. imports argument in the kill stories section. Who woulda thought?

My $.02 - There may be some fast imports out there, but I haven't seen any. All I've seen is Fast & Furious wannabes that think all the junk they bought makes them 10 second heroes. I still don't understand why these people think their sub-2 liter econoboxes can outrun 300 hp+ f-bodies with VTEC and a glasspack w/ some chrome plating. Sure, it's possible, but for the price you could have just bought an f-body and then some. But then there goes the coolness factor, I guess.

And where is this can't handle junk coming from? Sure, it can't buzz around street corners like a go-cart, but if you're impressed by a Honda squealing it's tires doing 30 around a street corner, you're living in a sad, sad world. I'm afraid that if you pitted an f-body up against the imports in it's own price segment, they'd get burnt to a crisp in a real racing environment, especially when the modding starts. Same goes for the Vette, just more so (IMO).

Re: E F B16 Civic hatch

The fastest street car at our local track last year was a mid 11 second 125mph plus fwd turbo talon. It beat out a turbo regal and many other fbodies etc.The guy slowed it down to run 11.5 as under that he needed a rollbar .I have also seen very slow hondas, toyotas, mazdas, neon srt4s and wrxs.Driving skill, tires make big differences just like seen crappy times out of f bodies, mustangs, big old muscle cars etc.
Again lot of variables.Generally though the fastest imports are of course turboed or turboed and nitroused.4 cylinder cars can easily be faster than v8s with turbos and spray. But launching and tuning and having proper support mods is also pretty critical. Also at alititude turbo, super and nitrous cars have definite advantages. Our track is 1800 above sea level.

Re: E F B16 Civic hatch

The B series is barely worth discussing. The new wave is the K series powerplant for Hondas. Look at it this way--a B motor car modified to run any quicker than 12s is the top dog of the Honda world. It is akin to a 327 Nova with a 10-71 Roots blower-if you can take that as a valid analogy.

As far as 1000 HP import owners, one need look no further than the MK4 Supra for examples.

EDIT: I find it funny how there are joint DSM/Fbody owners on this board.

You've got some good points. Alot comes down to driver skill. When I started racing my T-Type, it was slow. The car had the power to go fast, but I just couldn't drive it. I've seen alot of imports go fast. I've personally seen a turbo Civic run a 11.84 trapping at over 140 mph. NO BS!! Also seen a 9 second street driven Supra driven into and out of Cecil County. It all comes down to money and technology. VTEC and all that other crap is good, but how much does it really take to make a 4 cylinder fast?? Alot, I assume. Take that same money and put it into a LS1 Camaro/ Trans Am/ Z06 Vette; you have a fast car thats now even faster.

Just my .02. I had imports, but I would have been killed in my Conquest in my accident. If I didnt have all that Buick metal around me, It wouldnt have been good.

It was still production dum-dum. If you go by that train of thought,
then gt500's and gt350's were not real cars either

Re: E F B16 Civic hatch

Actually if you start with a decent base like my talon awd turbos it dont take all that much to get them fast.Aftermarket turbos can be pretty cheap well under a grand if you shop around. You need new fuel pump, easy and cheap to install on the dsm cars ,they have nice fuel door in back of hatch makes things easy. You need new injectors 300 US or so..adustable fuel reg..couple hundred. You need some way to tune things..they make things like maf translator for those cars now.Even make scanmaster like my lt1 and ls1 scanmaster for the dsm cars. You need a better clutch and good intercooler.Engines in the dsm which stands for diamond star motors and includes, eclipse, talon and lazer are pretty tough especially the early 6 bolt motor.Rear ends got stronger in about 92 on when went to 4 bolt over 3 bolt rears. Its simple to get a 1st gen talon to be pretty darn quick.A budget of 3000US or so would do a pretty good job. Need a good clutch also of course or stall in an auto one.

Anyway they are fun toys.Had a 92 pretty modded up with big turbo but no track times.Good buddy has a very low should be 10 second one this year,he does have 5000 or maybe 10,000 into it though but the cars themselves talking 90 to 94s are pretty cheap these days.
I wanted more creature comforts so sold the 92 and building up a wicked fast 97.
Expect it to be on par or faster than my other f bodies.
