Cruising and what happens???

Was crusiing Sunday night, just out for the night and I see lights behind me...a 2000-2002 LS1 transam on my tail, I mean inches....we pull up to the light and I grab the center lane....he has no choice now but to line up next to me....light turned green, I gradually accelerated in 1st because my tires suck...but punched it in 2nd and reeled him in nicely. I really dont think the guy was giving it wot but neither was I. From 5mph-55mph I had 1.5 car lenghs spinning most of the way. What tires do you guys suggest? Something not too pricey....

Nice run.

About the tires...if you dont put alot of miles on the car, then go with the new MT drag radials or Nitto drag radials or good ole BF Goodrich drag radials. Any one of these are better than regular high speed rated tires. I use the BF Goodrich DRs on my velle and they do pretty good.

If you do drive the car alot then you might want to try a set of Kumho V or Z rated tires. I am not sure exactly what they are called but they are dirt cheap compared to Goodyear or Firestones and grip pretty good. This opinion comes from a seasoned veteran of this board (not me )who had these tires on his 93 Firebird!

Yokohama V-rated tires are good as well, and fairly cheap. Around the same price as the the Kumho's.
