Couple Races, Had some fun

Me and a couple guys I know through my brother went out to an F-body meeting tonight, there were not too many cars there, but friendly people talking cars so it was a good time. Afterwards my brothers' buddies and I agree to go make a couple passes with each other. My car is in the sig, my brothers friend has a 96ish T/A with headers, a very mild cam, ignition, and catback...his other friend drives a 00-02ish golf Gti with an upgraded turbo (disco potato turbo for anyone that knows what that is) says it puts 311 at the ground, neat little car...anyway we make our way to the desolate road. Me and the other T/A go first. We line up, I'm brake torquing it to about 2000ish rpm, flagman drops his hands and we both take off, he stays with me until about 30-40 mph at which time the LS1 top end pull rears its (ugly/beautiful take your pick) head and I begin to pull on him pretty hard. I was watching my lane so I wasn't really paying attention to him but by the end of the faux quarter he said I had like 2 or so cars on him. sweet....now the race I was worried about.....the gti and I agree that since he has a hard time getting traction he forfeted the dig race to me but he wanted to go from a roll and let me pick the speed. So I dont see any problem, I say 15mph, we get goin, start pacing at 15, he honks three times and we're off...I immediately pull out on him to where he's about a half a car back(later found out he was spinning), second we stayed pretty even, then third he starts SLOOOOWWWWLY inching up on me and by the time we had to brake he was just at my back bumper. I was pretty surprised because I thought the power to weight ratio would heavily favor him. He was really cool too, not at all a ricer, the car looked stock, even under the hood, a real sleeper. On another note, anyone going to Thunder Racing Dyno day? I am!
