couple of highway races

Well i was coming home on I355 and i saw a white talon w/ work done to it, i had just seen it kill a modded gsx from a dig a few mins. ago and we were all on our way back home, anyways....so i get next to him and we go from bout a 60 roll and first run we were bout even or i was inchin on him slowly but we caught up to traffic and we had to slow down. So second run comes, 60 roll again, and i instanly pull bout 1/2 car on him and continue to pull on him till bout 115 when i shut down w/ him bout 1 1/2-2 cars back. Then a friend who was w/ in his auto 2002 GT go next to me and we went from a 50 and i just kept pullin him and by the time i was at bout 105 i had bout 3-4 cars on him still pullin pretty good, he said he wanted to go again and the same results happened if not a little in my favor more. All in all, i was pretty happy that my LT1 has pretty good ***** up top. Well that wraps up my story

the GT had dynomax cat-back, but had the exhaust disconnected before the cat-back anyways, so basically straight pipes runnin through cats and he has a K&N intake...and thats bout it

Off subject...What kind of tires do you run on the street? I have 3.73's comming in and am thinking of nitto dr's. Have any advice? And was the talon awd?

I would suggest Nitto Drag radials if you plan on racing alot, or it just doesnt rain much where you live. I have Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's on my car. They use to hook great with the 2.73's , but with 3.42's its a crap shoot--then again its been winter here. I love the GS-D3's cause i can drive in the rain, without slipping and slidding around, they make a huge difference. If it rains alot, i would suggest the GS-D3's.

What other mods do you have on the way? If you got gears and tires you could rape a newer GT off the line. But if you run a manual GT from a roll it will be alot closer than you think...traction, and gears will not help you much unless its a first gear roll. ANd normally manuals get a pretty big jump on autos. Go from a dig, get the win, come back and tell us about it

on the CHP test, there couldve been a bunch of variables since they didnt do the test on the same day. Going from 3.23's to 3.73's should net an LT1 about 1MPH and 1 tenth if you put down the same 60' times. Now since traction will be theoreticallly harder BUT you ALSO have better gear multiplication, the launch will be at least as good as a 3.23 car.

i would do long tubes on my LT1 if they were legal,my mustang isnt too bad when it comes to working on it so it aint such a big deal on that car but the LT1 aint no fun.also i dont think ill see a 50RWHP gain from the considering ive already got a cutout and cai,ill still gain a good 30 or so. Also i said 1 tenth and 1 MPH given the same 60' time,we all know the better gears will help out the launch a bit more and get those 60's down at least another tenth (which = .15-.2 in the 1/4). 1Mph aint that much but its still a little difference

If you have 2.73's, then go with gears. There are alot less "dead spots" with my 3.42's. I have yet to figure out the sweet spots though.

Actually I have a bunch of little mods comming in right now. Nothing that makes that big of a difference but I don't know, I wanted to do the little things first. I have a msd coil, 160 stat, k&n cai, and the gears comming in. No longtubes here , I live in southern cali and want to keep it street legal. The only reason I got the gears right now is because I got a very good deal on them. But I am 18 and am going to start a job in like 2 weeks or so and live at home...So basically I can put the money I make into my car and not have to worry about bills or anything. By the end of the year I hope to have a full exhaust, and hot cam too. Thanks for everyones imput.

Yes, I am aware of that, I am not doing it myself. I am going to get a stronger backing plate and new crush sleve and all that good stuff too. I don't plan on having them in very soon. Probably sometime in the summer. But I got a good deal and figured they could sit around for two months until they go in. No I don't plan to stop modding my car after gears so they will be worth it once I get the real modding going. I plan on having full exhaust, nitto dr's, stall (not sure which yet), tranny cooler, and maybe shocks and springs by the summer of 2005. That is my goal and like I have said before basically all my money will be going into this car so if something major doesn't go wrong I think it is a real possibility.
