Im not sure what year it was (94 body style) but i STOMPED him. We took off three times from a stop. We both jumped out of the hole at the same time. Once I hooked, I pulled away with little effort, esspecially when I threw it in second. I had about 1 car lenth, in 3rd I had almost 2 and a half, as I powershifted through 2nd and 3rd gear. I raced a 94 cobra a while back and beat him pretty easily.

How could I tell the difference between the years? The 94 cobra had mustang on his rear bumber with the svt logo on the trunk, including the cobra badges on the front fenders. This one had cobra on the rear bumber with the svt logo on the trunk and the cobra badges on the fenders. Anyways, I embarassed him and his girl!

 

Good kill. Where are you located? What color Cobra? I cant tell the difference between the SN95 years or 99-04 ones either. I just run and hide, cause Cobra's are scarewie.

I'm located in Fontana, California. It was a white cobra. That thing sounded mean as hell. All intimidation but not too much performance.

 

My buddy has a 96 that sounds pretty mean, so mean he had to put quieter mufflers on since the State Trooper threatens him on a regular basis. Lots of Stangs I have raced are all bark and little or no bite.

Whats mods you have? Try making a signature.

Well, I bought the car about a year ago from a dealer, so I don't know of any mods. The engine was rebuilt. What I do know it has is a air foil and a TB bypass that I did. Other than that, I don't know. That is why I have no sig. However, I plan on spending about 4 grand on upgrades soon. I will post my sig then. I'd rather keep it real instead of lying on what I have.

SN95's have the horizontal taillights. Only way I know!

 

good kill, yea 94-95's are probably the weakest cobra...killed a pretty modded 94 in my almost stock LT1 without much effort.

 

Most of us upgrade to the newer style headlights. Either way 94-95, 96-98, and 99 arent very impressive to me. I love the potential of the 96-98 though and the bodystyle. Ive seen some do very well with boost or nitrous.

Your quote is completely inaccurate.
Im not SCed and win quite a few races against GMs finest. I have lost some and won some so it all depends on the scenario.
Last month my bud in his 01 TA and I squared off at the local track twice and I took him down. My 8.39 to his 8.94 1st run...second run was closer, My 8.55 to his 8.76. Just goes to show you that depending on a ton of variables you cant make such broad statements about any car.

 

To the best of my knowledge to spot a 94 ~ 98 Cobra from the rear: Ford used the "Mustang" on the rear bumper from 94 ~ 95, these also didn't have the 3rd brake light on the truck lid (it was in the spoiler), and the tail lights were horizontal. In 96 they switched the rear bumper to have "Cobra", the 3rd brake light was in the truck lid (like all other Mustangs), and the brake lights were vertical. I am pretty sure they also changed the rear wing at that time too on the Cobra to the standard Mustang spoiler...

I am sure there are some things I am missing...

 

Thanks for the info. Like I said that thing sounded mean as hell and to honest I thought he was gonna hand it to me. This one looked a liltte different from the 94 I raced a while back. A couple months back I was at a stop light and I looked in my rear view and saw a red mach 1. I punched it out of the hole, as did he. He was pulling on me a bit but not that much. I think if we were side by side he would have pulled at least a car length on me. I shut off at like 80 as I was approaching a stop light. Those mach 1 are damn quick!
