Thumbs down Re: Car Length measurements?

Sigh...

So...once again...since you are worried about your steering/suspension/brakes you won't take your car to the track. Where there is a long runout for you to stop on and emergency crews standing by in case something were to go wrong.

BUT!

You'll do this ^^^^ on a public road...an onramp which probably has a slight curve to it (vs straight line for a drag strip) and little to no place to go if say, something's messed up on the freeway and traffic comes to a screeching halt in front of you. All this while doing 110 or so which, I assure you, is a much higher speed than your high flow MAF housing, primered stinger hood, and busted *** suspension is going to help you trap in the 1/4.

Honestly it sounds like you need to park your car and fix it. When you're done go to the track and get a timeslip, or go race some fast cars on the street. Try that instead of "dancing" on stock fox bodies and running your mouth about it on here.

i'm predicting an auto-lock for using the term "dancing".

Re: Car Length measurements?

ok.... here we go again... first off? your the one running your mouth... and once AGAIN this post was about car length measurements.... not why i dont take my car to the track.... if i wanted your opinion? i would ask for it...... hence the reason for a forum.. no? i asked if anyone knew how to determine the difference in 1/4 mile times using car length estimates.... not why the greenz28 dude thinks i shouldnt race my car on the street..... you a cop? if so... bite me... if not? mind your own business... the reason i wont go to the track is because with my burned out bushings and other minor issues (minus all the performance stuff i want to add before hand) i dont want to pay to race and potentially screw off my car from pushing it to the max for a 14.2 trap time... when i hit 110 on the on ramp, first off u dont know which ramp im speaking of, which is actually REALLY long, downhill, and pretty straight, and second, i never push my car to the limits to get it there... i start off rolling and i never usually hit WOT...

and also... my suspension isnt "busted ***" by the way.... whatever a "busted ***" has to do with my car, i will never know, but anyways... so yeah, my bushings are bad, and i need a new rack and pinion cuz it has a very slight drip... which some power steering stop leak should fix... but i want it to be perfect...

and also............ who ever said my hood was primer? i just said it was grey.... that hood comes from the factory in grey, and no its not primer either, its a prep coating thats not sandable like primer is... no primer needed either, just shoot the paint on it and it sticks..... very simple....

and why do people bring up the 2 smallest pieces of performance on a sig line to add to their list of wise *** remarks? i could bring up his CAI and "EGR" ( ) if i wanted to be an ***.... i never said my car was modded up the *** hole man... which is why i see it as a waste of time to take it to the track right now... im not going to pull anything with pride... so why waste my time?

I'd be a hypocrite if I preached to you about not running on the street because I run on the street too when given the chance. To me though it sounds like your car needs some repair work before it sees ANY high speed activity.

When you have to stop, 110 is 110 regardless of whether you got there at WOT or not. Worn shocks and bad bushings don't help you stop, and public roads are usually far less forgiving in "outs" if something goes wrong.

To me it just doesn't seem intelligent to take a car that needs suspension/brake repairs before its trackworthy and run it hard on the street.

Re: Car Length measurements?

your probably right, but whether you want to believe me or not (and i couldnt blame you if you didnt, after all you dont know me) i have driving skill above all others.... i can take the same exact car as someone else and run .2 seconds less in the 1/4 (in most cases) just because i have that skill... i love driving, i do it daily, and i do it for fun.... its a skill i have actually TRIED to develop, hence i have developed it and am proud of it... i DO understand your point, totally... but at the same time i trust myself... and the car doesnt have any safety issues as far as high speed swaying or vibrating (heavily anyways) it doesnt pull in either direction when the gas is either WOT or untouched... i feel safe.. and i dont do it ALL too often, but i do it... just trust that i have been doing it this long and i take full responsibility for anything that happens....

Re: Car Length measurements?

have you?

fact is, im not tryin to fight with this guy over some BS, so im playin it as cool as i can, me and bob cosby, as well as some nuke guy already butt heads, and i dont need another..... fact is? im going to do what i do regardless of what you or anyone else thinks, because i know i can handle it... im no kid, ive been doing this for years and its always been a priority to me.... i admit how i GOT here was stupid, i lost my license for driving around doing the things i did without a care in the world..... but cops couldnt bust me for what i did do... so whenever they saw me i got pulled over for petty BS just so they could get me for somethin, in hopes to teach me a lesson... and they did... i dont DO what i DID before... but i still have loads of fun.... why build a street car that you have no fun with? i mean its not like im burnin out all around town, but on an onramp? thats the BEST place to test your acceleration.... without going to a track of course.... better than doing that in a residential...no?

Re: Car Length measurements?

ZeeDub is making friends left and right, and considering he's been on this board for all of 1 whole month... pretty damn impressive

Considering your list of things you need to fix on your car, I submit that the best place to test the acceleration is NOT on the street but at a track. That way, if anything does break, it's just you and all the other people who payed to race or watch, and not some totally innocent bystander. Since you already have "driving skills above all other", you should do signficantly better than my 14.2 in a car that had more mods than your car.

Maybe it's just me, but I wanted to know what my car did BEFORE modifications, and then AFTER modifications.

Re: Car Length measurements?

Seriously, take it to the track and find out. You think your car is a factory freak, but I doubt it. A LT1 feels awefully dang quick stock, because there are not a LOT of cars that are faster, stock, on the street.

Yes, 1/10 sec = 1 car length at the speeds that you typically see at the 1/4 mile dragstrip.

Girls girls...

You know that old saying that goes something like..... "Be careful arguing with fools, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference"?

Some of you just need to learn how to "ignore" the pests.

Now, can we get this one back to car stuff or do we need to close it?
