Yes state troopers at least in Indiana are harder on their cars from more ground to cover via interstates and state roads. In my area, they also tend to drive faster, take off faster, etc on or off duty when just motoring around patrolling or running errands than city cops and sheriffs. However, if you buy an ex cop car used by a small town agency or from a sheriff in a rural county, such as here, chances are, it will still be in fairly good condition. I hear most agencies actually take decent care maintenance wise of their cars. The use is more severe.

I definitely agree with that...I didn't mean to steer this thread in this direction, but just because an agency is hard on cars it doesn't make us stupid....I took pride in my LT1 Caprice when I had it, but you can only do so much in a big agency with 3 people driving the car each day....You're right....if you're lucky enough to get one from a small agency, you'll be golden because most had "take home" cars...meaning that they were the ONLY people that drove them and took care of them and were solely responsible if something bad happened to it...I've seen plenty of great conditioned ex-police cars from other agencies....but by the time we get rid of them, they are in sad shape....Gotta love big government

Quit BITCHING about being in a position you put yourself in. You wanted to become a cop so you became one,you knew what you were gettin yourself into, you got the training so why you BITCHING? You aint gettin any thanks from me. I see cops beating on their cars just driving down the street, just cuz it aint their car. Who the **** pays for this shiet? Then they go around and say they protecting us?there are much better ways to protect us. (who are they protecting us from?last i checked ive been harassed by way more cops than i have by drug dealers or other scum of the earth) id feel much safer with a smaller police force. Everynight after work i see about 3-4 cops on my way home (about 1 1/2 miles) just sittin there waiting to catch a speeder or driving around the neighborhoods just giving people parking tickets, they say its because they need funds, shiet its not a business its a service if they dont have enough money then theres too many damn cops. And lets not start on how many people they kill, most of them un armed civilians.

Steve Y i see you're still swingin from nut hair to nut hair, that must be your thing.

Yours was the response I figured I'd get....Sorry to all, like I said I didn't intend to steer the forum in this direction, but when I see ignorance, I respond...As for you MauriSSio, I'm sorry that you've apparently had bad experiences with the police, not all are bad people....I do this just to pay the bills and to try to help people...I'm in plain clothes and hunt down wanted felons for a living--to try to make sure that these a**holes are locked up, not out killing you or you family... I don't write tickets, drink coffee, or eat donuts...I HATE speed traps...I haven't shot anyone who didn't shot at me first..You dont know me, and how dare you make stupid generalizations..Like I said, I'm sorry you feel the way you do, I can't change that, but life goes on....I do a job that has to be done that no one wants to do...I'm not looking for your thanks or approval....If you have a problem with your local cops then you quit BITCHING and do something about it...If you pay taxes then you help pay their salary, you have a voice...use it...

You've really turned into a soapbox preaching retard. Quit your damn bitching! Do something about it instead of complaining. Just because you got owned, big time, don't get pissy at me.

While cops may seem to be pains in the average person’s neck, they are here for the common good. They follow you to make sure you obey the LAW. I speed, I do it regularly, if I get pulled over, it sucks, because the police officer is doing his or her job. Police make the world safer. Sometimes I use to think, "Wow traffic police are useless and should go bust some big time criminals". That thought is also common among a lot of people ignorant of the criminal justice system in this country. Many wanted felons are caught by traffic police. Why? Because the same d!ckhead that broke the law raping your daughter, is more than likely to break the law on the road. How would you feel like everybody road your *** non stop all the time, or cut you off at the drop of a feather? Or drove 3 times the posted speed-limit and ran over a loved one or a friend? For **** sake get off of law enforcement officers nuts... You have no clue how much stress and danger they put themselves thru every time they put on that badge and uniform. Police have statistically the worst unhappy marriage and divorce rate and the worst life expectancy after retiring. Law enforcement officers are also one of the worst paid professions in the country. Most officers appear to be "dicks" because they are subjected to the worst of man-kind....day in...day out. Those men and woman who protect and serve do it for more reasons than the pay.

For your information I am going to the University Of Maryland at College Park to further my education, and to get a degree in criminal justice, to get paid jack squat, and protect little pansies like yourself after you get your a$$ beat from running your mouth like you did above. I have always wanted to make a difference...that's why I chose the career path I have...and that's why I resent your ignorance.

Sorry about all this junk...like any other job there are people who do it who shouldn't...it's those cops that give us all a bad rap...Growing up I hated the police, got tons of tickets..even had a custom fake license plate that read "IH8COPS" that I put on the front of my car!!...that went over real well....Its all about perceptions....No doubt that a few of you hate us and are probably in that same "place" that I was a while ago...Hopefully you'll change your thinking, but some won't ....that's fine..I guess you don't have to like us, but you can at least respect the fact that we do a job that someone has to do...

And I still think that a stock Z will beat a stock Caprice...Isn't that what we were talking about?...It took me a ton of mods to get my old man's 95 Impala SS to run 14.20s...

I have to agree with everyone who says that cops in general are pretty much worthless. Unless you live in a high crime area cops are good for nothing but sucking down donuts and drinking coffee. I'm basing my opinion on personal experiences.
