cammed ls1 vs heads/cammed lt1
Man get serious... "Down Playin'?
Dude's sig says he's got 'ported heads'... Now that could mean anything... and given the run report next the 98... it's fairly certain that it's not much of port job. No offense to the OP...
I've got stock, but fairly fresh heads; and a 218/224 565/570 cam and I will take down a stock 98 by over a second in the 1/8th... N/A.
I DESTROYED a wicked looking 02 Ws 6 TA ... a few months back. Dude wouldn't even look over when I slowed to give him the thumbs up...
And that serves reason as most of the LS units are running mid to low 8s at our track and that won't help ya much when the race is 7s.
A mild port to stock heads; does not a Head/Cam make... the guys runnin' 1.5 rockers.. so he's down a .1 on lift on an already mild cam compared to most.
And FTR... changin' the title to someone thread is nonsense. Quit being such a douche Kraest.

Captain LT1 hero to the rescue!!!!!!
ET's most certainly are a good indication of a cars abilities. If a car company makes a 1000hp monster and people look to see that it's 0-60 time is 7 seconds, the car is going to be considered a joke. Power is nothing if you cant get it to the ground.P.S. Don't take anything personally. It's just fun to mess with you about LS1's. Then again, it's fun to mess with all LS1 owners about LS1's.
ive only raced one ls1 camaro. dont know what he had done to it but he came up on me and let her go and so did i and quickly pulled away from him til we came up on traffic, then we went at it again with the same result. prob about 4 car lenths within 5 seconds or so. he pulled up beside me at the next light and said " what the heck do u have in that thing. im running 365 rwhp and u walked away from me like i was sitting still" i let him know what i had. oh, and i didnt use nitrous either. real nice guy. but a 383 can be mean with supporting mods

But that's fairly common in the LT family... Very hard on the drive train; 'too beaucoup...'
But the new S60 will be here soon and that she'll be more apt to handle the enormous torque load laid down by your basic LT-1. Well not yours... per se; as you're not accustomed to such things; but you know what I'm drivin' at...
If you think quarter mile racing is boring and not an indication of how "fast" a car is, then why do you have the quarter mile ET's and MPH's posted after your vehicles???

The 1/4 ET is really a moot issue when you can have a car that runs 12s @ 105 mph. A 105 mph car is NOT fast.

Also: Just because your car doesn't ET well doesn't mean that it's not getting the power to the ground -- It just means that it happened to not come off the line as hard as another car due to gearing, suspension, tires, etc.
Let me ask you a question... What's faster?
A)
Car that has 350 horsepower and runs 11.90 @ 110 mph on slicks and a 5000 stall with 4.56 gears and tops out at 130 mph.
or
B)
Car that has 550 horsepower and runs 12.20s @ 122+ mph on 18" Drag Radials and a soft launch that tops out around 190 mph.
The answer is:
For 1/4 mile racing:
Car A.
For ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING ELSE:
Car B.
Nobody in their right mind would pick car A. That's why my opinion is what it is.

Mike
Meh. I tried that with my 10.56 @ 131 Corvette. It wasn't really that gratifying, so I sold the skinnies, slicks, etc to my buddy -- since then he's blown up 2 IRS units and a clutch on his Vette -- Bah.
My old Vette:

I put some normal tires back on (Nittos) and went roadracing and smoked everything else there.

Like I said before... I'm not worried about going 11s if it's only at 110 mph. I build my cars to be fast at everything ---- not just doing a wheelie off the line.
