O, my mistake. I would boost but there arent currently any reliable kits that make decent power for the k20's yet.

DC5_RSX, nice to meet ya. Well the race occured on Sunday afternoon, and the guy driving had a passenger. I dont recall seeing the rims and I also dont recall a large wing. The only thing I do remember is that it had a circular red sticker on the rear windshield. I would like to run you, ive never really setup a race formally and itd be a first for me. Right now though I am back at University of Miami untill finals My last exam is on the 17th, so I will be back then. Although I am not a stranger to the casual street race, I would REALLY prefer to take it to the track since I started paying my own insurance this summer. It isnt cheap, and a ticket for street racing is something I just cant afford now. In fact I was thinking today how ****ed I would have been if I was caught yesterday If it was you I raced, props to you for not being the typical punk *** rice kid and for having a car thats pretty quick. Im not an import fan, but like I said a fast car is a fast car. If it wasnt you, I would still like to meet up...............-Matt-

WOW, ummm are you sure you were flooring it when you raced that rsx?

Well I have a friend with another black rsx-s. No emblems on the back (like mine), so it doesnt say type s. No rims, no drop, no wing, completely stock. EXCEPT a cai, and a little red fireman sticker on the back windshield. Right when I just read your post, I gave him a call. I asked if he ever raced a z28 on i95, sunday night, lost by 2 cars, my friend said yes, that is about exactly what happened. And he said it was black.

I'm just curious what did you say you ran at the track? A stock rsx-s runs about 14.8 at ITS best, with only cai I ran 14.5 and I have never heard of anyone doing better than that with only a cold air intake. The rsx-s that you raced has a best et of 14.8 with the cai.

I actually dont like street racing either, I am at moroso every single friday night. Only black rsx-s, with type r wing and black rims ever at moroso. So whenever your going, let me know and we'll meet up.

But are you sure that you were flooring it when you raced him? You should have kicked his ***, I would hate to see a race between you and I on the highway. I beat this rsx-s by like 7-8 cars.

[not sure if this came out in an A$$hole way, didnt mean it to]

this fairly close race must've been a reaction difference. i can't think of any other way a 12.9 ls1 would have trouble demolishing a 14.8 rsx.

The race wasnt on I-95, it was on the Sawgrass expressway. Ask youre friend if he lives in Heron Bay. Thats where it all started basically. My best track time is in my sig: 12.9 @108. Right now the flywheel on my car is definately cracked, and that day my check engine light was on. When I scanned the code it said AIRBANK FAULT. Im not sure what that means exactly but it could be robbing some power. The car goes into the shop for repairs when finals are done, and itll go to the track right after
I would still like to run, as I have the suspicion that both those problems may be costing me some time. I dont lie about my mods or my E.T.'s (which are from Moroso by the way). Either your friend has more under the hood than he says or my car is hurting bad right now. And no you didnt come off as an ******* in youre post............I would like to know if your friend REALLY only has CAI though so I can gauge just how much power I may have lost.

There is a guy around here that has an RSX S, with all the bolt on stuff, and some Toda cams. He got the smallest cams they offer for that car I think. He's severely traction limited, but the last run I heard of was 13.8 @103.

Yeah seriously...

I test drove an RSX-TS for my girlfriend. I was giving this thing everything it had and it just felt extremely sluggish. Now maybe this has something to do with me being used to my car, which is much faster than a bone stock RSX. But still, the car did not feel very fast at all and is apparent that it needs some big-time mods to start playing with the bigger boys. I couldn't see one with just a CAI keeping up as well as it did unless your driving at the time was that poor (bogging in the wrong gear).

Good times for yours though dc5. I've heard the added power is really mostly from the reflashed ECU.

Vettethreat-I'm 100% sure that his only mod is cai. He wanted to get an eclipse, then he came for a ride in my car and loved the vtec. Got himself an rsx-s. Then asked me what was best as the first mod, I said cai. I helped him install it, then he dropped the car, I helped him do that as well. He is now ordering hondata, and I am the one sending him to the best price. Every mod he does, he gets word from me, and I help him install it. So I know his only mod was cai. He doesnt live in Heroin Bay but his best friend lives further north down *** Hill/Coral Ridge, which is probably the kid that was in his passenger seat.

I'll talk to him tomorrow and make sure he said it was on I-95 and not the sawgrass, and I'll see if it started on Coral Ridge.

Good stuff..........geez if thats his only mod I must be hurtin bad. By the way I just got back from grabbing something to eat. I cleared the error code on the car, and I could definately feel a a HUGE difference in the car. Ive been driving around with it on for the last 2 weeks, so I probably just got used to it being a slug. Well hopefully after I get the flywheel replaced and find out whats causing the code my ride will be back in shape again............-Matt-

By the way I wasnt questioning your times, I believed you. Just surprised my friend kept up with you.

What would cause your flywheel to crack like that? What did the engine code end up being from?

The flywheel has cracked before, and when I went to the track with it cracked it went 14.0 as opposed to the 13.5's I was routinely pulling down. The 14.0 was with a decent 60 ft. so it wasnt a traction issue. I am pretty rough with my trans sometimes. I try to set it in the best gear for how fast I am going if I am racing on the street. Now that I have 3.73's in the rear, its more to my advantage to have a the car in a lower gear than when I had my 3.23's. This sometimes leads to many bangs on the rev limiter, and ive been told the 4L60-E tranny (auto trans in LS1 F-bodies) is pretty weak. My brother has a silver 2000 Z28 with a manual trans. When we race from a roll (assuming my car isnt suffering from any mechanical difficulties) I will pull him hard. He is bone stock right down to the paper filter (for now anyways). A manual LS1 with a good (not GREAT) driver is good for mid 13's. GM High Tech Performance awhile back got a bone stock 99 or so LS1 to run a 12.9. Im not sure if that was on streets or slick tires. My point here is that I can pull a mod 13 second car pretty well, so if youre friend runs a 14.8 like you say then my baby is in trouble. Anyways I am still not sure what the code is from, but hopefully someone on LS1 tech should be able to help me out. I know you didnt think I was lying about my times, I just wanted to make it a point that I dont BS my E.T.'s like alot of guys do. Take care...............-Matt-

Actually about a year ago some guy in a Trans Am was riding my *** HARDCORE. I changed lanes, he changed lanes. I slowed down, he slowed down etc. I was really not about to race because the police in my city were campaigning at the time against street racing. Anyways the guy ends up pulling up next to me with this really pissed off look on his face and says something with his windows rolled up (good job dumbass). Was he seriously upset I didnt want to race?!?! Guy was maybe in his 30's. Definately one of the stranger things I have seen on the road.
Maybe he needed his Diaper changed...LOL....
