Black RSX (pretty damn fast actually)

I was heading back to school today when I came across a black Acura RSX (not a type S). It looked totally stock (no signs of rice to be found anywhere on the car) The kid gave it some gas a few times, so I figured I would teach another easy lesson to some rice kids. Turns out if I wasnt modded, I could of been the one getting schooled. They get on it before I do, I give chase and am slowly pulling away untill I have to slow for traffic. I drive by with the windows down to see if they have anything to say, but I just get "the nod" from the passenger. I turn onto the highway and they follow. I floor it onto the onramp and they do to, and from there it wasnt really a contest. I thought I may have started before they did so I slowed down and waited for them to catch up so we could go again. I tell them "3 honks" and the kid in the passenger seat says "what?" so I yell again "3 HONKS!!" . They look at each other and seem to be game, so I wait till Im going around 70 mph, which is where the auto trans will downshift into 2nd. I give it 3 honks and floor it. I begin pulling right away and when I let off I am about 2 1/2 to 3 cars ahead. The pull wasnt immediate though, it was gradual. When I let off I was far enough in front to pass in front of them. They change lanes to the right and get off at the next exit. I wonder what that thing had done to it? I didnt see an exhaust on it (looked totally stock but sounded pretty loud). If I had to make a guess I would say nitrous. I have to give the kid props. I am running a 12.9 @ 108 on street tires and he kept up pretty well. He HAS to be in the mid 13's to keep up the way he did. Even though I am not an import fan in the least, a fast car is still a fast car. But then again, a good kill is a good kill ;-)

Since you say it wasn't a Type-S (160 HP in the base RSX), I'd guess he probably threw a 125 shot at ya.

Good job!

just wondering, what made u say that it wasn't a type-S?

the lack of a badge is just a heat gun and dental floss away

Haha maybe.........but like I said in my post I didnt get the chance to talk with him so who knows. But yes I am aware its not difficult to "debadge" a car. Im a pretty big fan of the whole sleeper thing. Youre the guy with the really fast Civic (sorry if thats not the car) if im not mistaken? I think I saw some photos that were posted of it (teal colored?). Talk about a sleeper. You must take alot of import/domestic drivers by surprise! -Matt-

It's probably a debadged type-s. from what I've seen, a type-s can run around high 13's-low 14's with moderate upgrades, like exhaust and tuning. anyways, nice kill.

Good kill, never underestimate the car beside you. If he's willing to run against a fast car like yours he must have something up his sleeve. My bet is he removed the type-s badge for sleeper purposes. Another good thing about sleeper cars is people probably wont try and steal them as much. A fully badged car will attract wanted and unwanted attention.

I Could not agree more. I remember racing a 2003 vette (could tell by the 50th anniversary badge) and the guy followed me to the gas station afterwards to talk. It was way cooler to actually chat with the guy afterwards than if he would of of just drove away even though thats how the vast majority of street races end. Then there was the guy in the Boxster S who flipped me off and called me a "***" after I tried to tell him "nice race" Oh well!

so how much does a bolt on turbo kit for ur car cost??

its a high compression, 2 liter 4 banger, to convert it to a reliably running turbocharged car will cost money...this is true of ANY car that does not come stock turbocharged from the factory.

how much does it take a v6 fbod to run solid 13s??

 ignorance :gay:

and FYI: a properly turboed RSX will run mid 12's easy at around 110 (on slicks...traction on a fwd is tough)... so i doubt it was turbocahrged, unless it was a ghetto setup with horrible tuning...
------

vettethreat - yeah, i met one of my real close friends who owns a black 98 SS on a highway encounter back when i had an integra-R...some sunfire was ****ing around with him, and he took off, i took off to watch, we ended up racing each other cuz the sunfire was god awful slow, he had a bent pushrod so i actually ended up keeping right with him...

followed me to talk in a deserted parking lot, he gets out, im 5'6 150 he's 6' + 200 +, had a mullet (he was growing it out as a joke...mullet "hick" fbod owner stereotype) i thought he was gonna kick my *** lol

Hahaha..............I think youre chances of getting youre *** kicked for keeping up with or beating someone are pretty slim, but then again with some of the nuts on the road today who knows? Actually about a year ago some guy in a Trans Am was riding my *** HARDCORE. I changed lanes, he changed lanes. I slowed down, he slowed down etc. I was really not about to race because the police in my city were campaigning at the time against street racing. Anyways the guy ends up pulling up next to me with this really pissed off look on his face and says something with his windows rolled up (good job dumbass). Was he seriously upset I didnt want to race?!?! Guy was maybe in his 30's. Definately one of the stranger things I have seen on the road.

Someone sent me a link to this page in another one of the forums that I post in, I think you guys may be talking about me.

Vettethreat-did the rsx have a rather large wing (type r), and black rims? If so, then it was definitely me. I am also in coral springs, even if I am not the one that you raced, let's set up a race anyways.

I only have intake/headers/exhaust/ecu. I have about 40front wheel horsepower more than a stock rsx-s. I put down 205whp and 146lbs/tq. My track times are in my sig, although my 2nd gear synchros are worn so I cannot do my best when racing at the track. With a fixed tranny my car is definitely good for 13.6's.

About a month ago I was on the way home from moroso, and on I95 I ran into a camaro on the way home. It was green, we had a couple runs and he was slowly pulling everytime. I was surprised I kept up as well as I did anyways. Although I dont think I had a passenger.

And just to let everyone know, a turbocharged rsx @ 12lb's of boost puts out about 320whp and 250lbs/tq compared to the stock 160whp and 130lbs/tq (at the wheels, this is the type s model). On slicks, the best time as of yet is a 12.5@108mph.

Yes, I have the hondata reflash stage 4. It lowered my vtec from 5800rpms to 5200rpms and redline from 8100 rpms to 8600 rpms. But once I installed my comptech race header I began to run lean. So I got a v-afc and dyno tuned the air to fuel ratio, and tested out some vtec points. I ended up rasing the vtec back up to 5600rpms where it made more power at.

Short round-So you have a green/teal hatch, turbo'ed and are located in south florida? Did you used to go to lowe's hangout and kick some serious ***? How about racing the owners yellow car@ Street Legal Imports? If so, I've heard alot about you. And damn your car is fast lol.
