Just raced a 2005 White SRT-4 tonight and I was actually suprised I beat him. My Buddys told me about a guy they know who bought a white SRT-4 and was looking for someone to race tonight and they were telling me I should go run him, personally I thought I was going to lose. The SRT is bone stock and has 3,000 miles on the clock, my mods are in my sig. So we go down to Pizza Hut to meet the kid and he takes one look at my car and says " This is a waste of time I know im going to win.'' I was like ok buddy lets go, so we race from two stops, we go out on the road line up and I honk three times and were off! I get the jump and pull a car length on him and it stays that way until 110. So after we slow down we catch a red light and the kid has a pissed off look on his face, it turns green and he gets a hair of a jump on me but I then I retake the lead and its the same result again! So we all pull over and the kids like '' oh I didnt launch right and my foot slipped off the clutch on both races''. Im like ''ok'' so me and my friends leave and go
back to Pizza hut to get something to eat and laugh about it the whole way there. Well this is my kill story for the night hope you enjoyed.

P.S. Yes the guy knew how to drive his car he was just making excuses like any cocky punk.

Yeah, excuses excuses! He screwed up and lost and you won. Deal with it HA. Welcome to the club. I raced a cocky guy in an older SRT-4, i dont know what year, i dont keep up on em, i think they are gay (dont tell me about price and power to weight ratio etc, they suck and look dumb and cheap). Anyway, he was talking smack all around town when he got it telling everyone he was going to waste me. LMFAO, i drilled him by 4-5 cars!! he was like "This has wheel hop, i shifted wrong" Bla Bla. I got a stick ,and i screw up rarely, and the times i did i still won. Everybody always says "holy god watch out for those things!" Im like, those things are rare around here anyway, and the ones that are here arent the higher stages. As i understand the stage 3's arent as fast as they are painted to be. once i put in my cam 4.10s its going to be worse for the SRT's around here

 

Wow, impressive win. Its not uncommon for people to run high 13s in stock trim in them. Be careful though, with some mods those things become monsters very quickly.

 

Lotsa owners that care more about the bragging then actual driving skills methinks. Kinda a shame. And yes the Stage 3 SRT4s are running right about what they should be running (mid 12s at 111+). At that level, the number of wanna-be racers is lowered.

 

Bone stock srt 4 on street tires are not that big a deal. Drag tires help turbo fwd cars a lot. They also help rwd cars a lot.Yes srt 4 are pretty easy to mod but stage three is pretty expensive it sounds like and while it should work good for couple thousand? an lt1 or ls1 will also get pretty darn quick.
Most lt1 can do low 14s stock, mid 13s with tires and or stall or minor mods and low 13s with maybe some headers and stall or gears and headers for
manual lt1s.

I sure dont' fear near stock srt 4s. Ones at our local track haven't been getting very good times at all. Day I was there car was not even in the 14s do to driver and wheel hop and wheel spin but still. I am waiting to see some fast ones. At our track turbo awd auto talon the other day with minor mods managed only 13.8 best ,turbo fwd shelby with drag tires managed 14 flat.
Now to be fair my 96z28 vert at 3800 raceweight and with very few mods last season only ran 14.3 best on nittos but wasn't heating the nittos up as they were brand new and just didn't want to bother. Last year mods on z
were 3.42 gears,tb bypass,airfoil,g2 air induction,holley air filter,maft,hpp tuning out,nittos.
This years mods for z28 are 2800 vig stall,asp underdrive balancer. Hoping to see mid 13s with 2.0 60fts on nittos or possibly better with buddies et street radials.
Have CC305 and 1.6 NSA comp rockers to install but likely wait for next year and then do heads and headers at same time . Have zex wet to install also
think throw it on and try it out last track day.


I have read some really wild claims on the srt boards about these cars and lot of claims seem very hard to believe..as for showing timeslips anyone can pick one up off the ground at our track.
I know turbo cars can be fast as heck depends on how much money you spend and what aftermarket turbo you bolt on.
I am hoping for an 11 second 97 talon this season or next as mod heck out of my dsm.But that sure as heck won't be done with stock turbo,stock fuel system or stock tuning or intercooler.
I love turbo cars,love my dsms..awd turbo cars are great especially when they are two door not four and look like sports cars not family sedans.

I have buddy with sts turbo lt1 and am planning turbo on my 99 trans am.
Turbo 4 bangers can put out big power but turbo v8s or v10s or v12s can put out insane power.

I also think they should put out awd two door srt 4. That would be nice.

 

Oh our track is at 1700 feet so my lt1 corrected time would be around 14.0 I think.

 

Eh...the dudes drive me nuts...I have smoked them by more than 10 mph in the 1/4 only to be told they were "pulling me down"...
