Anyone run a Grand National
Re: Anyone run a Grand National
About 5 yrs. ago when my car was literally BONE stock... I mean paper filter and all... I raced one that must have been stock. There were 3 short races to about 65 mph or so. Each time I got about a 1/2 a car out of the hole and it stayed that way the whole time. With the turbo he probably would have reeled me in but always had to stop cuz of traffic. So I'd say if you can find one that really is stock its a dang close race.
Re: Anyone run a Grand National
This is a stock motor 87, he has a 125 shot but wants to run me on the motor not spraying, he wants to run for $50 but something tells me I should wait till next summer when I have some suspension work, exhaust, gears, and a tune.
On the 125 it ran an 11.6
On the 125 it ran an 11.6
Re: Anyone run a Grand National
Think the best those cars ran stock were 14.1's-14.2's...but they wake up QUICK from simple mods like any other turbo...think there close to 12's w/ an exhaust and tires....but im not a GN guru, not my cup of tea so i could be off

Turbo Buicks are not good from a slow roll.
Even with the stock turbo, they need to spool out of the hole. There is a world of difference in the launch. These cars make tremendous amounts of torque, and to get out, under boost, on the street can be tricky.

He's not launching that hard on radials, so he's on a tire...right? And if he's on a tire, it's a safe bet that he's not "stock".
BTW...running from a dig is the way it should be. This "from a roll" crap is for people who can't drive their cars.

Sometimes you just take what you can get! if the GN was next to me at the red light and didn't roll next to me as the light went green we probably would've gone from a dig.
