Anyone race a Cobalt ss/sc?
Okay now I got a quick question. I put down 325lb-ft at 2200rpms, 93 LT1. Is this typical vs an LS1? I've heard from a couple people that LT1s are the bigger powerhouse low-end and LS1's high end, just wanted to ask if there is any truth to that? Or mod for mod is the LS1 still going to put down more power no matter RPM range?
I wasn't going to post in here but why not. I have a lt1 ta and a cobalt ss. I've run both at the track stock and modded. My ta when stock ran 13.9 @ 98 in good weather @ atco. 1.98 60'.This was when the car was new. My cobalt ran stock @ etown 14.3 @ 98 with 2.2 2.3 60' time. Now my ta has every bolton plus head and cam and traps 108-109. Lots of money invested to get it where it is. Now the cobalt with just 1500 in mods from a roll is neck and neck with my ta. My bud also has a 2002 z28 with air lid and catback that he just took to etown the other day and went 13.3 @ 106 and change. It's an auto with 2.73 gears. When we race and we race eachother alot I put a car on him from a roll everytime. I know alot of you lt1 guys would like to think you have the faster car but stock vs stock from a roll your not going to pull very much if any on a cobalt with a good driver. I don't know many stock lt1s traping over 100. I know my cobalt trap stock 98 almost everyrun. From a dig these cars suck so 1/4 mile times suffer. But the MPH is there. Now once everyone is modded well everything is out the window. Just thought I put in my 2 cents.

P.S. Ta is a vert race weight is 3950 and Best et is 12.48@ 109 1.69 60'

You are really getting some good launches huh? 12.48 @ 109 w/ 1.69 60'! That is pretty impressive. I am confused, I see most LT1's stock trapping right around 100-102. I thought with H&C you would get some better traps then 109? So with your friend at 13.3 and you at 12.48, you're saying that the LT1's are weak up top or from a roll?

The story is that mod for mod, LT1's are torquier down low, but I haven't seen a good stock or mostly stock LT1 dyno graph showing anything under 3000 rpm, so I have to go by SOTP feel from people whose opinions I don't know if I can trust.
The next time I get a chance to make a dyno pull with my Z28, I want to go from idle. Hopefully I'll be able to get someone with an LT1 to do the same, and we can put an end to this question once and for all.

You guys who think Cobalt SS's can't beat LT1's are just plain wrong. In many cases it can be a drivers race with the edge going to the LT1. They can pull a stock A4 LT1 from a roll, and can be neck and neck with a stock M6 LT1. The problem with them is they don't launch well.
A few weeks ago there were two at my local dragway easily hitting 102-104 trap speeds@high to mid 13's. Not sure of the mods though.
Oh, and if a Cobalt SS is trapping 106 mph, it should be able to beat most bolt-on LT1 from a roll. Bolt-on LT1's are typically in the 103-106 mph range.
LS1's, especially with a M6 shouldn't have any problems with a Cobalt SS unless it pretty well modded.

Funny my stock A4 camaro was smacking mid 13 second cars, sorry your is a pile of turd that only runs that with bolts ons. No two cars runs the same, think before opening up your mouth about stock cobalts being able to walk stock A4 LT1's.
I put 2 cars on a stage 2 srt4 from a roll with only a CAI. Guess i should have lost that one with my crappy a4.

You're crazy if you think a stock A4 LT1 is going to "smack around" mid 13 second cars. Only way I can see that happening is if the other driver sucked. I mid 13 second car is faster than 90%+ of stock LT1's, sorry to burst your bubble, but it can still be a driver's race.
Did I ever say that A4's suck? You do realize that A4's trap about 2 mph slower than a M6 with the same engine, so from a roll they are at a disadvantage. There is more drivetrain loss with the A4. That was my point.
My car is only mid 13's because my suspension and tires are setup for corner carving, not launching. If I put a set of decent drag radials on, and got softer rear shocks and springs, pulled off my big @ss front sway bar, I'd be in the high 12's. Did you not notice my trap speed? My car runs very strong for bolt-ons.
