any lt1 beat a g35?

Have any of you lt1 guys? Well here's the deal. A pretty cool guy that's one of my friend's buddy hangs out with us once every while just bought a g35 infinity. It's currently in St.louis where his parents stay. So anywayz everyone's drinking and car come up as the subject. And someone said that his g35 will kill me no problem. I have a 94 z28 a4 stock, only flowmasters(and 20' rims that I'm thinking of taking if when we race). So I just give em' the "sure" look and not say anything to avoid the whole bench racing 30 minute conversation I can see coming. So the guy (shannon) with the g35 says "yeah I'm pretty sure I can leave him".

One of my friends that has a 2000 GS400 says " I dunno, T(myself) beat me kinda bad from a stop so I'm not 2 sure." So shannon says "Okay T, as soon as I get my car out here lets line em' up!" I told him "I'll pass...." Now he gets balsy. "Aww c'mon T don't bitch up now, matter of fact I'll lay a open bet on the table right now. How's 100 bucks from a dig sound?" I look at him crazy. Then he says "okay never mind u look a little chicken over there right now." So I speak without thinking. "200 hundreds the bet."

So now we're going 2 be running each other soon. The deal is 1 run down this long strech of road that allows hit up 2 about 110 before shutting down. Both cars has 2 be in the same form they are in now,but I am allowed 2 throw my pea shooters on, no dr's. So my question is, did I open my mouth too soon. I heard that they ran very close to the time of the 350 Z's but I've never raced either one. I think I need help with this one guys.

Never raced one myself, but from the magazine times that I've seen, you should take him. It will probably be close though. A 350Z would be a closer match for an LT1 so being that the G35 is alittle heavier than the 350Z, I say you'll be $200 richer.

I don't know much about infinity's but the internet says you've got him by an average of a half a second on the quarter mile. It will be close. Good luck.

I dont think you were too clear. Is it a coupe or sedan? If its a sedan he has no chance. If its the coupe i still put my money on you.

1) Learn to speak english, I can hardly understand what the hell you are saying.
2) What are you doing with 20" wheels on your car, was it featured in a rap video?

Re: any lt1 beat a g35?

Dont get nervous and blow the launch, feather the throttle a bit if you have to, just dont spin it to hell if you can help it. Of course if it was me with $200 on the table I'd add a few things to seal the deal, but from the looks of times online the sedan is 14.6ish and the coupe 6MT is 14.2. Now assuming he doesnt have anything extra youll beat the sedan but win by the skin of your teeth if everything goes well with the coupe. Good luck, but I'd get a tune or something in there to save yourselve some money in the long run.

FLOL. I was thinking the same thing.

If the G's a sedan you'll kill him, if it's a coupe it'll probably come down to the driver.

Re: any lt1 beat a g35?

He JUST bought the car... Is it a 2005 or earlier (2005s don't have the brembos)

If its a 2005, coupe, 6Spd, you're going to have a hell of a race on your hands.

I've driven the pre-05 coupes, and they are SLIGHTLY slower than the '93 LT1 I drove.

Trick is the launch, if he nails the launch, and you spin too much, you're doing to have a hard time catching him. Those things take OFF after 4.5K.

Re: any lt1 beat a g35?

I raced one in my LT1 before the gears went in when they first came out . I had no problem whatsoever with him . But I have a six speed . I was stock at the time except I had a CAI .
Do you have 3:23's or 2:78's ? if you have 3:23's Id put my money on you providing you take those monstrostie's off your car and put on some 16's . Most of the time stock LT1 auto's dont need DR's anyway .
Good luck and have fun!

Re: any lt1 beat a g35?

The best thing you can do right now is take your car out to that road and master your launch (with the stock tires/wheels... they should hook better than those really low-profile tires on 20s). With the 2.73s, you should just be able to go WOT right off the line and not spin (my car never would spin with the 2.73s). 3.23s are a little more iffy... depends on the pavement. On a good road i can go full throttle from a stop and get a little spin, mostly chirping, and get off the line hard. A little wheelspin won't hurt as long as your tires are biting and not just slipping (takes a little practice to get the feel for it). But on an older road, i can kill the tires if i don't feather the gas enough. For the most part i can hold it at 3/4 throttle until it hooks then hammer down and go.

FWIW, just because your car is an auto doesn't mean you'll be much slower than an M6, especially on street tires. I know for a fact that my car is faster at least up to 80-90mph with the A4/3.23s than with the M6/3.73s. Mainly b/c i can launch it a hell of a lot harder with the auto (without blowing the tires off) and the 1-2 shift is a lot stronger. Where M6's help is on top end... you never fall below 4k rpm after any shift.

Practice your launch, run him, and take his money. If it is a 6-speed... i doubt he'll get a good enough launch to catch up to you. You should kill him off the line no matter what tranny he has, which is where most races are won from anyway. So i'll say it again:

Practice your launch!!!!

Dont run it with those 20's on it . They can take as much as 2 tenths off your car .

Re: any lt1 beat a g35?

yea, skip the 20s
also, if you have any stereo or anything, or any kind of weight you can get out without them noticing, do it
and lastly, stop betting when you've been drinking
next time it might be a car that will whoop yours

good luck man

I cant agree more, I think with it being so close, it will come down to the launch. Go practice against a friend who has a similar car.
