Another LT1 vs Fox thread.

Most of you old timers here know that Ive been through half a dozen GMs and half a dozen stangs so my views are always impartial. Last night I headed out to buy the wife a Christmas gift ( secretly...lol ) so I was on Hwy 74 headed to G town ( Gastonia NC ) and this late model 90s Z28 is coming up in the rear view. I immediately got that warm feeling as the adrenaline started upping in my veins. Even though it might be a sixer, I was hopeful it was the real deal. Sure enough the guy pulls along side and I could tell he had exhaust work. He gooses it a time or two and gives me the thumbs up. I reply back with a tap or so and roll the pass window down. We slow down to about 35 in a 50 mph zone and are cruising and talking about each others ride. I love encounters like this that are respectful and competitive at the same time. He said he had Borla catback and a K&N, but that was it. It was also an A4 with 2.73 gears. Knowing that, I figured it might be a good run or at least worth both our whiles. We agreed to kick it off from a roll on the third honk. Upon this he pulled about a fender on me and we stayed right in that position up until about 120 mph
I hit every gear just right and his auto didnt miss either..
We slowed to talk a second or two more and decided to slow for the next red light and try it from a dig. Well we dang near went 5 miles cruising trying to catch a red light...lol Go figure, If we were in a hurry to get somewhere every red light in town would have jumped on us. We finally catch one and the only traffic out was an old truck across from us going the opposite way so we gave each other the thumbs up and kicked it off. He stalled it up and right before we left I could hear his tires break loose on the line. Not good for him as when the light changed a split second later I eased out of the clutch
(making sure I didnt slip into the same fate as him) and laid into it a few feet off the line with minimal spin. He fell back immediately 1 solid car and lost ground after that because he was out of his powerband by spinning and letting off to regain traction. We slowed and decided to kick it off from a roll again and the results were the same as the first run. I know that my 93 stang is now a low 14 second or maybe even a very high 13 second car by comparing with him.
This was the best race Ive experienced in quite a while and was really impressed with the lil ole fox to keep up.
Now also to let you guys who might not know me in on something, Im a really good driver that practices timing and technique all the time at the track. He seemed a bit unexperienced as I could tell by stalling up on street tires and breaking loose before the run even began so the driver mod apparently came into play somewhat.

Anyways, Its a run and I have not posted any in quite a while so here ya go.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow performance enthusiasts out here in CZ28.com land today.
