Re: Amazing drifter

Drifting is to real racing as the WWE is to real wrestling.

Re: Amazing drifter

Ouch tough crowd. I remember seeing a segment on drifting on TV somewhere, the guy they interviewed was a total joke as was the rest of the program. He went on to say how drifting was soon to overtake Nascar and other racing sports since its requires superior skills, etc. Average ricer comments.

I think I'd get better ratings mounting a camera in my car and driving it in Ohio during the winter like I just did. Way more exciting, dangerous, and far less small-*****-ish.

I have to agree with Stereomandan and Antz97ZNJ on this one.

Re: Amazing drifter

I'm not a fan of drifting, quite the contrary...but, I doubt any of you could ever dream of handling a car like that guy did.

Re: Amazing drifter

Did it, winter of 04-05. I actually gained back alot of spins and slides that most people would be calling their insurance and tow truck company after.

I am seriously not impressed, how that guy was driving for 1 mile was what I did for a 20 minute drive to work and back

If they want to make drifting interesting make it more like snow driving, add oil spots to the track for black ice and oncoming drivers. Oh and fog up their lenses for white outs.

Re: Amazing drifter

It's easy to sit in your chair and say you "did it", but I doubt you were doing what that guy was doing at those speeds. JMO. Maybe you have a video? What kind of car were you driving?

Re: Amazing drifter

The car in sig, from speeds between 0 and 75mph. I guess I wasnt doing the same thing as him, I only had a few inches of snow and/or ice making it easier to lose control.

A sport that is just a guy going around a track getting the rear end to whip out I dont think its too tough. Its pretty damn predictible on dry pavement with a race suspension and tires. From my understanding you get points for good "drifts" etc.

Come to my town in Ohio next winter, I'll give you and your Camaro a ride for your life. You probably dont have much of an idea what its like driving through snow and ice like I do, but its a helleva lot harder than what that guy is doing. Its always nice living in a town where the streets take about 2 days to get plowed.

Re: Amazing drifter

You were doing it in your auto f-body? Not only that, but you were doing it at 75 mph in 3" of snow? lmao

Re: Amazing drifter

Who said anything about 3" of snow? The times I was losing the rear end at 75 mph were clean and clear days that had conditions ripe for black ice. I never saw it coming but after "drifting" down I680 at 75mph I have lost any interest in doing so as a race sport. I think "drifting" is a joke.

Perhaps you would like to comment more on drivng F-body's in snow/ice since you must do it so frequently.

I have a very good idea what it's like driving through snow and ice, I do it every winter as well. 15 mph in 3" of snow w/275s, and you have nearly no control over the car. But I guess you found a way to go 75 mph in 3" of snow/ice and drift like that guy was doing. Very impressive.

Wangan, Togue, and Gykenhama are other popular alternatives to Drifting.

Re: Amazing drifter

Alright highlighted that the times I was going 75 were on "clean and clear days that had conditions ripe for black ice" which caused the rear end of my car to slide out
