For all we know, that could have been the GT's worse run of the night...or it's best. With the 101 mph trap speed, he should as we all know be able to hit high 13's and I bet it was a 5 speed car.

He sailed by you at the end by 10 mph...which is a smoking.

But none the less, you have a good running v6 there.

 

Like I said before... not denying that he was gonna waste me, he has 65 more hp... probably more since he sounded modded...

I don't care what billy bob or some magazine ran in some car somewhere that was built by god...

That has no affect on MY guy that lined up NEXT TO ME.

sure I cut a better light, but did he get an ok launch, not a john force launch but not bad....


ITs the track run what you brung.... I brought my little v6 camaro, he brough his mustang GT, we were at same line, same set of lights, no one "jumped the line" like a street race, fair race heads up all the way down the 1/4.

he still beat me but just goes to show what you may come across at an average track on an average test and tune day... I know GTs are capable of more but I have also seen them run worse.

Just posting a vid and my story figure it might entertain some... personally I love it when someone beats a car that runs a faster time.

Anyone can go out and buy crap, and make their car faster, but its funny when you line up side by side against a slower car and he beats you to the finish line. I like those races better.

I did'nt mean any disrespect. You have a very stong running V6. However the results are misleading to the average person because you had such a better reaction time thats all. You beat him by 3 tenths off the line which is huge.I know its run what you brung at the track (I've been racing at the track for 10 yrs and am liscensed to run 9 sec times in my Saleen) and anything can happen.I just wanted to point out to everyone that if he could of cut a light close to you(because his light was absolute horrible) it would'nt of been that close of a race.
And I thought the mods you mentioned (gears,suspension,weight) were on the mustang .my bad. Because there is a GT up here with those mods in the 12's and I thought the guy you raced had those mods and only ran a 14.3. But if his car was stock the time is'nt that bad.

 

The same thing happens in street races all the time. Yeah, you treed him and made it a decent race for the win light.

This is how cars on the street beat/hang with cars they shouldn't. All it takes in a street race is someone to get a jump and they already have a pretty good advantage. Imagine if he got the .1xx light and you had the .4xx light. Woulda been ugly for you. Sure, you were close to him at the end, but when people see the .6 and 9 mph difference, that's all they will look at.

Pretty quick V6 though.

 

We could all play this game all day. Case in point, there are cammed LS1s running low 10s and bolt-on LS1s running low 11s/high 10s. Does that mean my full bolt-on cammed LS1 is going to run a 10.3 @ 13x? I've seen guys with the same mods you mentioned running mid 13s out here, and yes they know how to drive. You can't always lump all cars w/the same mods into one category. Some people spend much more time getting their car dialed in and learning how to drive the **** out of it and will go much quicker than others.

 

Funny you should say that, have a funny story...Had a buddy back in HS , he owned a LS1 TA, his girlfriend a few mths later went out and bought a 6 cycl. maro, he was driving and lined up against a newer 2v...anyway he went on to not only beat but annilaite this guy from the light..

 

What I was saying is if a Gt that weighs 3000lbs, has gears, suspension and only a running 14.3. There is something wrong with that picture. Kind of like a bolt on LS1 running mid to high 13's. I know you can get 2 cars and have the same mods but 1 is faster. But a car with bolt on's and with weight reduction running times that are equal the same model car's stock times(some people have gone quicker than 14.3 in stock Gt's) is kind of rediculous. Don't you think?

 

Exactly, Thats the first thing I look at. Then I look at the other things such as reaction and 60' times.
I did'nt even watch the video. I just read the timeslip info he wrote.Thats all I needed to know about the race.

 

Depends on the weather conditions. You'd be surprised how cars run out here in 110* weather and 6000' DA. It's tough to compare cars' performance from location to location.

How did he have a "clean" run exactly?

A 2.25 60 ft time is HORRIBLE - he'd drop his ET almost .5 just by doing a (so-so) 2.0 60 ft.
I'd hang my head in shame if I ran a 2.25 60 foot...

(A 2.5 60 ft wouldn't even be worth mentioning/discussing BTW... )
