99 B4C vs. LT1 Firebird

Early Thurs. morning going down I-95 between Savannah, GA. and the FL. line and a very nice metallic blue LT1 formula came from WAY behind me to get right up beside me and it had a ram air hood , M6 (I assumed) sounded like it, but not sure. had what looked to be Borla tips. Its like 6:30 am and we're the only cars on the road! I rolled my window down and told him his car was sweet, he said likewise and I asked him "on three honks??" He nodded his head yes I honked 1-2-3 and let him get the jump first cause I know that Usually LS1's pull harder on top. So right off the bat, he jumped a car right when I honked the 3rd time from 75 mph. I floored it and it dropped into second, hit third at 85 and it was OVER....pulled him maybe 6-8 cars to 140 and let out. He catches up as we slow down and shook his head at me and gave me a thumbs up!! I did the same and then we cruised about fifty miles or so right behind each other with the cruise set on 79 mph!! Cool dude!!! Just not too fast on top....

How are you pulling 1.99 60's on bald tires? That mph seems too low for that e.t. Did you let out near the end?

Re: 99 B4C vs. LT1 Firebird

I dunno!! I know that Im shifting into third right after the 1/8 mile, I have cut 60' times from 1.99 to 2.05 with my current setup. My car will stall to 2200 if I stall it up, but I got my best time just stabbing it off idle.....I have also been told that my car's 4l80e trans pulls more power from the motor??? Steve Y..... What mph should I be running in the 1/8 with my setup?? Only got to run my car one night at the strip before our track closed in NOV.. There were several LS1 cars that run 75-78 mph at our track. I thaught that 84.9 was pretty fast for a stock rear LS1 auto. There's a couple of N/A LS1 cars that Ive seen run like 90 mph with lopey cams and slicks. What mph are bolt on LS1's running at your track??

And 1.99 60' was my BEST, average was around 2.01-2.02....spinning. My tires may have 1/4 tread left and have me some drag radials for my 16" 99' Z28 rims for when they open back up in march.

Re: 99 B4C vs. LT1 Firebird

I seem to spin about 10 feet or so on launch and the blow the tires about 20 feet on the 1-2 shift down track. I believe though that with my drag tires this spring Ill be in the 7.9's 7-8's?? I spin bad in the 1/8 mile and still pull out a decent time, The nearest quarter mile track is in a good 100 miles from me either way ... I's sure Id pull a more impressive 1/4 mile time than my 1/8, I have bouncd the rev limiter right at the 1/8 mile mark with the shifter in D, And I know it pulls HARD through third. Heck, it'll bark the tires when it hits third. Im waiting anyday to have it tuned bye HawksThirdGen.. He says he can pull alot more power cause my computor was not reprogrammed for the camshaft the Sherriff's dept. installed. Hope he can get me some dyno #'s! The officer that had my car tyold me that the trans was a brand new GM 4l65e or 4l80e? whichever, cant remember, Also resleeved at 60,000 miles and wrecked at 68,000 ....Narcotics Sgt.'s car! Completly unmarked. I got it at around 69,000 miles. It would outrun 2 of my buddies's bolt on m6 lS1 cars when I first got it. Before I started modding it. Would you think that I would run better with a M6?? I have a friend at the track wanting to trade me even for my auto....full changeover.

I was mistaken. An 8.22 at 85 is possible with that 60' time. Great launches! Yes a 4L80e robs more power from the motor because it has heavier moving parts. But it is more durable! Sounds like a great running car.

Maybe. You already had a good 60' time, so I don't know. Report back to us.
