99 3.8 Camaro vs. 03 Honda Accord
Ok so my car was getting work done to it about a week ago and I had to borrow my moms 3.8L 99 Camaro A4 with 3.42 gears from the factory. I call my brother up who drives a 03 Honda Accord 2 door 5spd for some good ole fashion slow car racing... So we go out on a good road to race on and we go from a couple of rolls... And each time he pulled me about 1 car.... We went from a stop once, I got him out of the hole but he ended up reeling me in by about the quarter mark. I must say i was disappointed in my moms car... I thought it would take my brothers Honda. But in hinesight i looked in car and driver and his car is the 2.4 liter model and runs a high 15 at 88-89... So i guess it makes sense... Just a funny death for you guys, i had a good time LOL.

Actually it did come with 3.42's from the factory. It was a special "handling and performance" package. It says it on the sticker and when you look in the glove box, sure enough GU6 RPO code looks you straight in the eye
I couldnt believe it either when my mom first got the car. I was like MOM!, your car has the same gears that mine does! She didn't know what that meant.....But i thought it was pretty cool.Chris

Auto V8 = 2.73w/lsd or 3.23w/lsd
Manual V8 = 3.42w/lsd
Auto V6 = 3.08 or 3.42w/lsd(Y87)
Manual V6 = 3.23 or 3.23w/lsd(Y87)

Re: 99 3.8 Camaro vs. 03 Honda Accord
what v6 accord is it? the EX with 6-speed or just a regualr 5-speed?
I met a guy with a stock 2 door EX v6 with the 6-speed, he pulled a best of a 14.2(yes I saw it), car was stock except for a intake, he let me drive the car, and that thing pulled hard up top, but was kinda sluggish getting there.
And actually alot of newer v6s came with 3.42s even with out the Y87 package, GM jsut started throwing them in for some reason. Couple guys with 3.42s, and no lsd, dual exhaust like Y87 option has.
but if your bros car is a high 15 car trapping at 88ish mph, your mom's car should have been able to edge it out, not by alot but still edge out. Maybe check the plugs and wires, especially #6 wire, pretty commonly known to get cooked.
a good running Y87 car can run low 15s, with 89ish traps... and definitley runs better from a dig, and not a roll

it was the 2.4 liter 4 cylinder... And yeah, it probably needs plugs and wires but its not my car so i dont really care.... How did you make your car trap 95 with no money in mods???
Re: 99 3.8 Camaro vs. 03 Honda Accord
I have a 2000 with tubular manifolds so that helps a litlte right off the bat..
other then that...
-unhooked exhaust behind the cat
-removed Jack and spare
-removed air box
-removed drivebelt
-Did this on factory eagle GAs 235/55/16, with 37,000 miles on them with an open diff.
5-speeds also trap a little higher then auto v6s.
As for the misfire thing, just keep an eye on it, its pretty common, and kills gas mileage.
there is a sticky in the v6 section about it.

give the car a good tune up, practice a few launches and you should eat him alive
