Gee Maybe I shifted faster than he did. I always ran about 4 tenths faster in the 1/4 mile in my Civic Si than all the other guys with the same mods.

40 rwhp difference between a strong ls-1 and a weak ls-1???? LOL Man, maybe with misfire in the 1, 3, &8 cylinders. I've seen 20 rwhp difference, but never 40.

GM must have the worst tolerances in the auto industry then. Id hate to see where the LS1 is in a couple of years if thats true. Its funny though the trap speeds arent off by all that much with a decent driver. Maybe people should stop puttin such a big emphasis on dyno extrapolations and start focusing on real track numbers JMHO

I've actually seen a bigger difference than what I said. I've seen as little as 269 RWHP and as much as 320+.

My 99 Z28 A4 dynoed 280rwhp and ran 100.80 trap.
My 01 WS6 M6 no dyno and ran 109.46 trap.
Car I ran against in the 01 was an 02 WS6 M6 which was also completely stock. He ran 106.04 mph and 5/10ths slower.

There are some real track numbers.

My point exactly. A 9 MPH difference indicates alot more variance than 20 RWHP.

I've seen a 321 to 282 rwhp difference between bone stock M6 LS1s both brand new! The 282 rwhp one was a '98 and the 321 rwhp one was an '02, though.

So true! This crap has been happening with them since at least the LT1.

It's possible too that he could have had a A4. That would mean your cars would be very close to the same RWHP stock but you would still have better gears (3.42 to his 3.23).

The gears and your lid = you win. Or maybe you were just the better driver. Either way nice run.

Jesus christ... I ran a dyno for years for car clubs and I've never seen that much difference... Maybe weather conditions.

Except the auto. gear ratios are 3.06, 1.63, 1.00, and .70 while the stick ratios are 2.66, 1.78, 1.30, 1.00, .75 and .50. So in first gear the automatic has a lower overall ratio.

Yeah but what does first gear have to do with a race that starts at 70 MPH?

I hear the stories all the time of M6's that dynoed 320+ RWHP but you know I seriously have my doubts. Perhaps a SS with the SLP option because teqniqually it has lid and catback as "stock features". But a regular Z28 M6 even with ls6 intake manifold I doubt would break 310 RWHP normally and perhaps 315 RWHP if it was made on a Wednesday.

I suppose a 98-00 A4 I could see a 280 rwhp out of and a 01 or 02 M6 I could see maybe a 315 on a "freak". That's 35 RWHP difference. But the bottom line is most LS1's dyno bone stock between 290-305 RWHP. All I can say is damn these cars are friggin fast!
