98 Z28 vs. 02 WS6

Just out cruisin today and a 02 WS6 rolled on me. I dropped it down into third at about 70 mph and so did he. I let him stomp first. Both of us had a passenger tops off and windows down. He looked stock. Anyway we ran from 70 to about 105-110 and I slowly very slowly pulled about 1/4 of a car length on him. I have low temp thermostat and a lid. Does that sound about right ?? 98Z28 with lid and stat vs. 02 WS6 stock.

maybe it was an auto or your car is a lot lighter since you still managed to pull slightly on him even though he hit it first. Could be a weight difference. My friends all option 99 T/A w/6 spd with maybe 15 lbs of extra suspension mods (but with no spare/jack) weighed in at 3600 w/o him in it (full tank of gas).

When he used to have an LT1 when we would race from a roll (I had lesser "bolt ons") we would basically trap the same (within .4mph) and whoever hit it first would just keep pulling on the other but when we would hit it at the same time it would be dead even.

Maybe my " LS1 " was just a little faster than his.

With those little mods, maybe they would make a 1/4 car length difference.

Maybe being that the tires on the WS6 are a little bit wider than the Z28's they in turn stuck out a little more, causing some extra wind resistance. This would account for a slow 1/4 car pull

I think we all know that LS1s vary by as much as ~40 RWHP. There are strong ones and not-so-strong ones.

Production line variances, weight differences, drag differences, etc. No two cars are exactly identical.
